*THIS CHAPTER JUMPS AHEAD TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.*
(ONE MONTH LATER)

It was the day of the championship game and everyone was eager for the night to come. It was being held right here at our very own school, on our turf. We all knew we had this one in the bag. Coach packed everyone on the team the same lunch. He had students and staff making sure we didn't eat anything he didn't give us. This was a big moment for Coach. He had never coached a team that had made it this far, let alone the state championship.

We've had an undefeated season. We had worked way too hard to give it all up now. I wouldn't let it happen. I was going to do everything in my power to make sure we didn't loose tonight, and I knew my teammates felt the same way. Not only would it be the first state championship the school would win, but I would be the first girl to ever be apart of a team to win a state championship. If we pulled this off, it would be one for the history books.

It was the end of the day, and Nick and I were talking to Coach in his office. "Well I'm happy that your trip to Alma was so great, and I'm even more happy to hear that you two are sticking together. It wouldn't be the same without you two together as a team. Adeline, you have truly proven yourself to so many people that have doubted you over the years. Just remember, people will be critical and much meaner when you play at the college level. I think you already knew that. But you have proven to yourself that you are capable of anything. And that is why I want you to kick off the game."

I didn't know what to say. I just sat there smiling like one of those creepy, fake dolls, kids had back in the olden days. "She'd love to Coach."

"I'm glad. Now go get some rest and get ready for the game tonight."

"Will do Coach."

"Thank you so much Coach."

"Anytime Adeline. You deserve it more than anyone." I smiled and then got up out of the chair I was sitting in and then walked out of his office with Nick, closing the door behind me.

"Congratulations Adeline."

"Thanks Nick. I'm so excited, even more excited than I was 20 seconds ago when entering his office."

"I can tell. You're smiling so big I think you might need a bigger face."

"I'm not gonna punch you in the arm because I don't want to risk not winning this game tonight."

"The team, my arm, and I must say thank you for that then."

"Don't make me regret it Nick Eugene King."

"Okay. Okay." He put his hands up in defense and then we walked to the cafeteria where the rest of the team was. All of the teachers decided not to assign any homework because of the big game tonight, it's like another made up holiday, only better. It was the state championship.

It was getting closer to game time. We were all in our uniforms and pads, and more fired up than ever. Our rivals tonight are the Dolphins. I know what you're thinking. Dolphins. Whales. It's a battle for the sea. Hahaha. Every news station in Michigan has been broadcasting that "joke" ever since the final teams were announced.
