This is a mini one shot because the one I had planned for today needed a rework. I hated where it was going and need to do a few more hours of planning. This one is something I thought would be entertaining.

Charlie smiled from ear to ear as she busied herself in the kitchen. She thought it would be a good activity for the others if she was to make them cupcakes, but they get to decorate them. She just needed to bake them. Should be fine. She made food all the time.

This would be her first time making cupcakes, though. Surely it wasn't too hard. All the ingredients laid out on the counter. She separated her ingredients and then looked at the cookbook. She paused and frowned.

"You know, I find this book to be a lot more... violent than it should be. I mean why do I need to beat the eggs? Oh, wait, silly me. I believe it meant to say whisk. That would make more sense. Right?" She could cook, but her baking skills were something she lacked. The terms were different, but cooking and baking were the same right?

"Hmmm, this says to cook at 350 degrees for twenty minutes... but if I change it to 700 degrees, I can get them done in ten minutes. That sounds like a lot less waiting and more time to decorate them. The others will love it!"

She smiled. As she got the batter mixed and then poured it into the cupcake pan. Placing the pan into the scorching oven, Charlie set a timer for 10 minutes.

Not too long after, she smelled something foul. The oder was sweet, yet smokey. It was like it was trying to be a good scent but failed miserably.

Following her nose, Charlie stared and horror at the oven. A thick black smoke was escaping through the sides of the door. The hellborn covered her nose with one hand and waved the smoke away with the other. Looking over at the timer, it still had time left. She was a bit confused on why it was burning.

Quickly, she grabbed oven mitts, and pulled the pan out of the oven. After a moment, she picked up one of the cupcakes. It was burnt, but for some reason squishy. When she broke the cupcake apart, it was gooey on the inside.

"How in the world did this happen? I follow the instructions and altered it a bit. But not so much that it should have done this?" Charlie shook her head. "Looks like I have to start over."

And the young princess did. She repeated the process over and over and over again. She changed the temperature down, she added more time. Nothing she did seemed to work. "Grrrr, baking cupcakes was supposed to be fun and relaxing. Why can't these cupcakes turn out correct?" She groaned.

"Yo, what the hell is that smell?" A voice came from the kitchen door. Angel was standing in the door frame, holding his nose. "Charlie... what happened in here? Why does it seem like the kitchen had an explosion?"

Charlie looked around. He was right. There was flour everywhere, burnt cupcakes, empires of dirty dishes. Charlie looked down and sighed. "I wanted to make cupcakes for the others. I never made cupcakes before because I never had a reason to. I tried many different ways, I tried following the recipe, but I also altered it a bit. No matter what I do, it seems that they come out burnt, hard as a rock, or very undercooked."

"Your mom didn't teach you how to cook?"

"No. She never taught me how to cook. My father didn't teach me how to cook either. I had to learn on my own."

The spider demon looked at the princess and frowned. He thought for a moment and gave her a small smile. "Well, you are in luck. My father may not have taught me how to cook, but my mother did. Or rather, she taught me and my sister. Even though it was years ago, I still remember how to bake some cupcakes. Maybe I could teach ya."

Charlie looked at the spider demon, gave a sheepish smile and nodded her head. "I would like that."

"Hey, it also doesn't help that I have extra pairs of arms now." He waved his arms about, laughing. Charlie echoed his laugh.

The two of them went to work. They did have to clean up the mess to open up some pans, and space, but eventually, they got a good batch in the oven - at the proper temperature after Angel fixed it.

20 minutes later, the two souls had cupcakes. Angel even showed Charlie how to make icing from scratch. Charlie had intended for the group to decorate the cupcakes themselves, but she got lost in the moment with Angel. He was a really good friend, and a great person to talk to once he dropped his little act.

"Thank you Angel for your help. If you ever want to do this again, I would love to spend more time with you. You can show me so much in the kitchen that I never got to learn."

Angel thought for a moment, looked at Charlie and gave a nod. "I had fun today too. It definitely brought back some memories."

"I'm glad you had fun. Let's just never speak of my disaster in the kitchen."

"Oh no. I am so going to use this later." Angel laughed.

"Angel!" Angel made a dash for the door, cupcake in hand.

A/N: this is another one of those stories where I just had no idea what to do. I have seen the scenarios that Charlie went through through a bunch of random jokes. I just used those jokes to make this story up. The original story I was going to work on today was something that was requested from a friend, but I didn't like the beginning. I wanted to rework it, but I wasn't sure what to do yet. So I wanted to wait another day or so before I actually work on it. I hope you guys like this one. See you tomorrow.
