"most importantly, don't just jump. make sure you know where to jump or not, always consider your spot and the current of water."
i saw all of them nods their heads. "noted sir joshua."
and i just laughed when all of them said it in unison as i shook my head then i signaled them to go and catch some waves already before their official surfing class time would be over. i stood meters away from the shore and watched all my students do surfing and catch waves, and i couldn't help but to laughed when some of them would fall on the water even though the waves aren't on their spot yet. parang mga hindi natuto for the past days of surfing class.
after several minutes, i blew my whistle to get my students attention and that whistle was the indication that the surfing class was over and they can now rest and changed their clothes. and just like the typical students sa loob nang government school, all of them cooed and they ran as fast as they can to reach for their things, i was telling them to be careful and dont push each other kasi talagang nagmamadali sila. it seemed like they really wanna go home so badly.
bumalik lang ako sa office nang surfing school namin once i had checked that there were no students left on our corner. sagot padin kasi nang surfing school if something happened to the students especially those na minor. mark and i just met on the way back to our office, kakatapos lang din nyang magturo. oh, we are both a surfing instructor but the only difference was, he was a full-time instructor while me, its just a part-time. kumbaga, i only had to work here for one month as part of my vacation.
why not full-time? i have other job pa in los angeles. i was a project manager of our firm, actually, i was really the heir of that firm but i told to my parents enough that i dont want to be ceo yet i still want to be part of the firm basta hindi sa higher position. i cant see myself doing what my mother was doing right now plus i know to myself i cannot handle the work than my mom did. being a project manager was already a very busy and complicated position enough, ayaw ko nang pahirapan sarili ko.
for the remaining time of that day, i just lurked around the waikiki beach then i got back to where mark and i was staying. natulog lang ako maghapon since i dont really have schedules and plans. this is why i love summer, i dont have to do something related to work and ill get to have plenty of rest after three hours of surfing class. but sometimes i do get bored.. just like tonight, and when i get bored, i always go to the nearest bar and drink liquors or just hang out with other people.
"where are you going?" mark asked probably he noticed i was all dress up.
i shot him a glance. "bar, im bored. do you want to come with me?"
when he shook his head, i already know that ill be alone trying to communicate with other peoole there sa bar, pero wala naman akong choice since im really really bored. with my wallet with me, i went inside this bar near our surfing school, and just like other bars in normal places, there are a lot of people but this place doesn't seem crowded. there are people dancing in the middle but has no platform, the people there was wearing a hawaiian outfit, you know... the huge flower lei then a grass skirt then the girls are in their wavy hair just like moana.
i sat on the middle vacant seat after i ordered my liquor and was just about to watch some dancers dancing in the middle, but one man.. one pretty smiling angel caught my eyes.
