I wake up to the smell of French toast from downstairs, nowing my aunt was cooking something special because its the day of the reaping
Which I'm so excited for because I finally get to get a taste of what it's like in the arena and I'm so happy
I start to get ready, putting on my nicest dress, it's green and goes down to my knees with thin straps (the dress at the top)
And I put on my white worn out converse that I know I'm gonna get yelled at for because their dirty but I don't care their comfy and easy to walk in
After I get dressed and put my shoes on I straighten my hair and head downstairs for breakfast
"Good morning are you excited for today" my uncle said as I came down the stairs
"Yes I'm so excited"
"Good now eat up because we have to go in 20 minutes"
I hurry up and eat and run up stairs to get the necklace my mom gave me before she died after I put it on I run down stairs before walking to the justice building with my aunt and uncle
"Okay we have to go but be brave and don't chicken out" my aunt says as I get in line to get my finger pricked
" I know I know but you know I'm not going to chicken out" I say before laughing
After that my aunt and uncle walk away to stand in front of the justice building with the rest of the mentors
"Next!" I hear the peace keeper say before stepping forward allowing him to prick my finger for blood
I go and stand with the 17 year old girls seeing that glimmer is already here and going to stand by her
"Oh my gosh hey beautiful" Glimmer says once she spots me before telling people to scoot over so I can stand next to her
"Heyy how's it going" I say after she hugs me
"Good so are-" Glimmer gets cut off by the district 1 escort talking into the microphone
"Good day district one as you all know I have a video from the capital to show you" our escort says as she plays the video
*After the video*
"Okay so now that that's over we can get into the fun part as you know ladies first and may the odds be ever in your favor" she says before walking over to the bowl and picking a piece of paper out
"Amelia Young"
"I VOLUNTEER" I yell as I raise my hand and weave through people before walking up to the stage
"And who might you be" she asks
"Constance Tanner"
"Alright then on to the boys" she says repeating the process she hand done for the girls
"Oliver Crest"
"I VOLUNTEER" I hear Marv yell I knew he wouldn't chicken out he never does I think to myself as he starts walking up
"What's your name"
"Marvel Sanford" he says proudly
"Well these are our tributes for the 74th annual hunger games" she says as we shake hands before going to the train
My aunt and uncle are coming with us since they are our mentors and Marvel isn't really close with his family so we had no goodbyes to say well not yet anyway
We share a train car with district 2 so we meet Enobaria, Brutus, Cato, and Clove in our train car and watch the reping videos from the other districts that are airing right now
First we start with mine and Marvels because Cato and Clove haven't seen it yet then we watch Theirs cause we haven't seen it then so forth
"Okay so no one really is a threat to you guys expect the boy from 11 he's big and he looks strong so watch for him" Gloss says after we watch all the videos
By that time we reach the capital so we get off and we are swarmed with cameras in our faces and everyone loves it
We all smile and wave as we get escorted to the tribute center to get ready to the tribute parade
I get taken away by who I think is my prep team and taken into a room that has a metal bed, she makes me strip my clothes before telling me to lay on the bed as she rips the little hair I have on my legs and arms and armpits an bathe me
After that they leave and have me wait for someone named CeCe whom I suppose is my stylist
"Hello my name is CeCe I am your stylist and you are BEAUTIFUL" She says once she sees me
"Oh thank you" I say as she walks towards me and has me put on a silk robe before leading me into the kitchen to eat before she gets me ready
"Okay so I'm putting you in a purple out fit with a head peace so I'm just going to curl your hair and do purple makeup an then we can get you into your outfit" CeCe tells me before grabbing the curling iron
After that she puts me into what looks like a purple chicken costum, I hate it but I don't have to wear it for long
After she gets done with her last little touch ups she leads me out to where everyone else was waiting for me so we can walk down together
"Oh my god you look Ridiculous" Clove says as I walk in
"I know right I look like a purple chicken" I say before I look at Marvel and laugh
"Hey we are in the same thing you can't laugh" he says
Our mentors come in and tell us it's time to go
We get down there and talk before we get called to get in our chariots
We go first and the crowd goes wild and I love it they chant mine and Marv's names before Cato and Clove come out and only some chant ours until district 12 comes out
They start screaming their names and I look back THEY ARE ON FIRE. WHAT THE HELL
I just know that they are first on my kill list when the time comes
Snow makes a speech before we get led back to where we started and group up with the rest of our team
"I'm actually gonna kill them especially that girl" I say getting off the chariot, I am pissed and so is everyone else
"Just hold off on killing anyone before the arena please Connie" Cash says putting a hand on my shoulder
After that we head to our apartments and eat dinner shower then head to bed
