Name: Dan Dire

Job: Security Guard for a museum of heroes or sometimes for hire.
Lives: Outside of Metropolis in a one bedroom house by himself.
Powers: Protection magic. After accidentally unlocking this power, he would eventually learn would this power comes from. A dimension connected to his, The Space of Shields. This dimension draws off of every will and desire to protect throughout the multiverse. From an ant protecting its queen from a hornet, to Superman protecting his city from doomsday, or even Batman protecting his way of heroing. Any definition of protecting or defending supplies this dimension.
After drawing from this realm, Dan could make pure energy structures. Examples are shields, giant shields, walls, bubble shields, box shields, mini shields around his fists and feet. Shield helmet that can hold oxygen for a couple of hours. Shields of any design or shape, even some with spikes. Shield plates that he summons under his clothes. He can even create "weak shields" which heconly used once to slow down a plane so it wouldn't crash at full speed. He summoned then in front of the fall plane in its path and every shatter would slow ot down to its crash was limited to a low risk crash. No one died on the flight though some had sobe bumps and whiplash. You get the point. Any and all protective like thing he can make an magical shield of. And yes, he can even make "protection" for any of those horny readers.
Anyways, any and all structures he creates he can also manipulate. Be it changing the shield mid fight into a wall or bubble around the enemy to trap them. At one point, while under the effects of scarecrows fear toxins, he squished some goons in a box shield that he started shrinking while they were inside. 1 out of 3 survived but he was so injured that he ended up dying in the E. R.
Feats:
The first time he activated his power was on Superman himself. He was his with a mind control and was being forced to fly through the city, smash through building. While he was flying down a street, a child had fallen in the street and Dan's instincts went into overdrive. He sprints over as a light glows off his body and he made it to the child. His life flashed before him as he threw up his hand, shutting his eyes as he expected to be splattered, but all he heard was a giant thud that shattered anything glass for a few miles.
The impacted made superman's forehead bleed and broken the mind control, because the impact was so hard, the villain felt it, as if it was him who went into it, and falls into a coma.
Using the shields, he was able to take hits from Superman, Green Lantern, Shazam, block Wonder Woman's sword, reflect a satellite laser that had enough power to level Metropolis and Gotham both 10× over, and cancel out the lasers shot by Darkseid.
The Space of Shields:
This dimension of a power zone that all forms of protection get.
The first man who got the idea of the shield, only got the idea because the dimension zapped him the idea. The woman who miraculously lifts a car to save her child, draws energy and send energy to this place as well. The wounded soldier, firing every last shot while the medic patches everyone around him. Even the villain protecting his stolen fortune fuels this dimension. Its effectively an infinitely powered dimension. But why?
Meet, The Savior. The god like being of this dimension. The reason why the since of protection exists in the DC universe. He controls and directs any and all forms of protection that has, is and will happen. Those who unlock the power of this place will come here when they pass away, becoming one of the "Bearers of Protection," as long as they spent their time using their powers for the right reasons or the "right" reasons (aka, anything The Savior says must happen).
If you don't do these things, when you pass, your soul with just be turned into fuel for the dimension and the owner will feel the pain til their soul disappears.
Though you don't have to die to go here. Anyone with the magic are called protectors. Protectors are able to go through this realm whenever they want, as long as they are strong enough to connect with the realm using their magic.
Eventually, The Savior wanted to grant someone the highest rank of Protectors, The Guardian.
The Savior summoned all protectors in the universe, and randomly threw them into situations to test the since and will of protection.
In the end, there were three left.
Dan, and two aliens.
Sith, a dark, evil man whos power comes from wanting to protect himself and everything he owns, includes a kingdom he rules with an iron fist. A greedy and evil protection but a protection no less.
And Sera, an alien with green angel like wings, 3 eyes, 4 arms, and powered by her will to protect her world.
They ended up fighting it out in a free for all. The two brushed Dan to the side, seeing that "he just a human. There's nothing he can do to us." They clashed shields and barriers, creating Shockwaves so strong, supermans could hear them outside of the dimension. They ended up nearly dead as they summoned their fill powers into on more blow, but Dan had enough of being tossed around from the shockwaves. He dashed between then, creating two shields on his arms and blocking the full power of these two power houses. The blows ripped open the dimension for a few seconds before they closed themselves. Dan stood there, arms shaking and ears bleeding. He them put them into bubble shields and fall over.
He opens his eyes later and he was in the arms of Sera. She was missing 1 arm now. Sith had left. After his hearing returned, The Savior told him his since of protection was the strongest he's ever seen. That he put his life at risk to make sure the others didn't die. He was given the rank of guardian, supplying him with a full heal, and a power boost. He goes home, taking a device Sera gave him to stay in contact.
The Guardian:
The Rank is more than just that, it grants him The Guardian form. When inside the dimension, he can transform. His body is covered with the magic. He looks like a big glowy knight. He has two pointed shields on his arms and has more power than he knows what to do with.
Relationships:
Justice League: he works with them a lit but has yet to become an official member.
Sera: a love interest. Currently friends. She enjoys visiting earth to see him and try all the delicious earth foods.
Sith: Rival/enemy. Sith on multiple occasions, has tried to kill him but always fails. They once clashed on a planet with enough force to shatter half the planet. Leaving one third fine, another cracked and filled with canyons and holes, the the last third was floating chunks of what use to be there. Its moon also has a chunk of the planet in it, which messed with the rotation and distance and made its cycle 12 hours longer.
Timeline endings:
A: he lives his life, dying at 107 years old, and taking his place as The Guardian forever, till another Protector can defeat him.
B: injustice. Less of Metropolis is destoyed by The Joker's nuke, but being caught off guard, enough of the blast hit him to where he dies of radiation with in a few days. He was only able to save about 3 blocks of Metropolis. He dies a hero. But in this timeline he had yet to become The Guardian so he remains as a Bearer, resting peacefully, yet worried what may happen to those on earth...
C: (cannon) becomes a member of the justice league, marries Sera, makes the decision to use Ra's al Ghul's Lazarus Pit on the deal he one day does a harmless favor for him. The reason for becoming immortal is because Sera is from a race that depends from fallen angels and an ancient race that accepted them in their world. This mixed race is called Phimeons. They effectively are immortal in the concept of aging. They never grow old, stay in their prime, and are immune to illnesses.
Now that he's immortal, they live together without worry. They have each other and a Neverending Story ahead of them.
You can bet whenever the will to protect something spikes, The Shield, The Guardian, with be there to keep all safe and Protected.
