Chapter 38

"I wonder if Anastasia is coming." Nora sighed and placed her hands under her chin to support her face.

Hunter did not reply. His eyes were fixed on a certain person that came into the room. His lanky frame slid past many others carefully to approach him.

"Hey my sweet bubu. Happy 16th birthday." Zack grinned.

"Oh Zack. Thank you and it's been a long time." She said, remembering the last time they met in that club. The memory was horrifying though. She and Hunter almost lost their life that day which happened multiple times already. She grimaced and visibly paled at her thought.

Zack looked at Hunter who was staring at him intensely. Zack suddenly felt his cheeks turning pink.

He sat down beside him.

"You said you would be here an hour ago. A fucking hour!" Hunter scoffed.

"Aww Hunter. Don't be such a meanie. I was stuck in traffic." He muttered under his breath and discreetly pinched Hunter's side.

Zack awkwardly coughed when it made no effect at Hunter instead he stared at him with a bored look on his face.

Nora was looking at both Hunter and Zack through the corner of her eye. She didn't know why she was feeling that both of them looked too close to be like best friends. An excited smile bloomed on her face. She was totally shipping.

They sort of had an amazing chemistry.

But she kept her thoughts to herself for now. She didn't want to make Zack uncomfortable if she voiced out her thoughts in front of him but she would have no problem in front of Hunter later.

The whispering of the crowd got her attention again. The same reaction like the last time when Dominic entered.

When Nora's eyes caught a sight of familiar red hair, she did not waste time to rush in the direction. Hunter rolled his eyes but followed along with Zack.

Nora paused a little as she saw a familiar man standing beside her best friend. It was the same man whom she met in William's office once. He was Anastasia's father?

Her eyes widened in realization. She stopped in front of them. The confidence in her walk from earlier faded away at the sight of Anastasia's brothers. They looked like tattooed models who came out from direct magazines.

She had known Ermanno, Anastasia's twin brother already. Then, there was her oldest brother Adriano. His personality was same like William and they were both really good friends too.

"Happy birthday, Miss Eleanora." Allesandro, Anastasia's father greeted her. His face held a hint of smile.

"Ohh p-please just call me Nora, Sir." She stuttered, suddenly feeling nervous under Anastasia's brothers eyes. They sure were intimidating just like her own brothers when she met them for the first time.

Allesandro chuckled lightly.

"There is no need to be so formal, young one. You may address me just Allesandro and it will be fine." He smiled.

He looked down at Anastasia. Nora noticed that his eyes softened so much. It was almost like he was showering all of his love through his eyes.

Nora felt her heart sank slightly. But she ignored this familiar feeling.

Nora noticed that there was no sign of Arabella along with them. Not that she minded her absence.

Anastasia went with Nora. While the rest of her family went to private meeting room where William and others were waiting. Hunter went along with them leaving only Zack to stay with both of the girls.

"Hello Anastasia."

Anastasia suddenly remembering their meeting from last time, smiled at him. Her nerves relaxed a little. He along with Hunter helped her and Stefano that dreadful day. Just by remembering it, Anastasia felt chills.

She smiled at him much to Nora's surprise but she did not question that how they knew each other. She was just pleased seeing that Ana was at ease.

"Do you want to drink or eat anything?" Nora asked with a pleasant smile on her face.

"Umm water is fine." She fumbled with her fingers.

Nora led her to the bar again.

A little while of randomly chatting later, Anastasia asked the way to bathroom.

"Oh. I will show you the way. We will be right back, Zack." Nora said to him who was busy drinking and talking to someone on the phone.

He gave them a thumbs up and Nora led her to her own room upstairs.

"It's so loud in there. This party just feels like a random business party more than my birthday." Nora complained to Anastasia who giggled lightly.

"They all a-are still in the meeting." Anastasia said while looking in the direction of the meeting room.

Nora nodded sadly.

"Hades hadn't even wished me and William was just so busy. He didn't get the time to talk to me. But Lucifer said that he will get to me soon."

Anastasia stiffened slightly at the mention of Lucifer.

Nora was going through her phone while Anastasia was in the bathroom when
suddenly the door of her room opened.

Nora's heart dropped at the sight of who stood in the doorway. His eyes roaming at the every inch of her body. Nora couldn't help but shrink back to herself feeling uncomfortable.

What was he doing here?
