You'd just made it through the building to your destination when the panic ensued. Everyone rushed to get out of the building. Running for what seemed to be their lives. Tan stood still, listening to the chaos of the building as people flooded towards the elevators and stairs.
A woman falls besides you and you hurriedly help her up, making sure she doesn't get trampled in the stampede.
She doesn't even look at you, just rushes for the exit.
Tan grabs your arm, her green eyes staring at you.
"There's an alien ship in the sky." She shouts.
Your eyes widen, and before you know it, the building is tilting. You grab onto Tan and she holds you close, protecting you from what's to come.
A pink brainy substance seeps through the walls. You tug Tan away from it, but she shoves you away from her as a desk comes falling out of nowhere, crushing her into the substance.
You hear a dull and hollow crack over the falling of rubble, and rush over to her. Trying to move the desk without touching the substance.
"Y/n."
You don't register her voice, just keep trying to shove the desk from off of her ribs. It's crushing her.
"Y/n." She whispers, grabbing your arm. "It's okay."
You shake your head, continuing on with your pointless battle.
"I'm not leaving without you." You grit.
"Y/n." She says gently, cupping your face. A sad smile on her features. "He finally got me."
You can't help but let out a sad scoff of laughter. Tears running down your face. She gives you a smile, wheezing as she speaks again.
"I made a mistake Y/n." She says, hearing blades whirring. "Don't let them convince you too. You're a good person. Keep it that way. Okay?" You nod. Heart swelling as you're pulled away from her. You don't see as her breathing stops, but you know she's gone. You don't know how. But you do.
You look up to see your savior. Holding you close.
"Are you okay?"
You look up at him, to see he isn't the Donnie you know in this memory.
"Y/n," He says, whispering the next few words as he looks down at you, backlit by the oranges and pinks in the sky. "C'mon wake up."
You shoot up out of bed, to feel cold air hitting your face, and tears dripping from your eyes. Your body hot to the touch, but you feel freezing.
"Thank fuck." He whispers. Looking you over. "Are you okay?"
Your heart thumps against your chest. You nod once, before putting your head in your hands, sitting with your legs pulled up against your elbows. You shake your head.
"I had a nightmare." You whisper. Scared to speak it into existence, if you dreamed it, you could keep it to yourself, but if you said it aloud... then it would be too real. All too real.
You feel as the futon falls beside you. You look up out of your hands, to see him simply sitting, looking at you intently.
"I can listen, if you want to talk."
You wrap your arms around your legs. Holding them close to your chest.
"I... had a dream about the day I lost Tan." You look up from the purple blanket hanging loosely at your feet. "And the first day I met you."
He nods, still watching you.
"She... I..."
You pause, taking a breath.
