It had been three weeks since getting the Water of Purity and sneaking Elisia into the castle. (Which was quite a hassle by the way.) I waited until Owen went inside before getting her out of the carriage. We climbed through the same window that I did earlier in this adventure and hid behind curtains to make sure none of the royal staff saw us.
The night before the next mission was set to begin, the other knights were having a party down the hallway from my dorm room. While I was just relaxing, writing a letter, and chatting with my roommates (the fairies, mermaid, and dragon who was getting bigger and cuter), I could hear the commotion going on. They were loud, laughing and having a good time, cheering for one another, celebrating their victories. I thought that it would be fun to join them, but it would be too risky. I was always worried about the possibility that my helmet would accidentally come off or what my roommates could get into, so I decided not to go. Sitting at my desk next to the window, I could see the beautiful night sky with stars illuminating it. I was writing a letter to Kathleen, thinking it was only fair to let her know I was okay. The letter read:
Kathleen,
I somehow got into the castle! I am now an official knight in training. I am on my first assignment right now to help the King. I hope you are well and can't wait to see you soon!
-Lindsay
P.S. Please do not tell anyone about this letter and you cannot send any mail back to me. It's a long story and I will explain it to you when I get the chance.
"Who's Kathleen?" Dawn asked as she read the letter, sitting on an overturned cup.
"Oh. She's a friend of mine that I've known for forever," I responded, putting the note in the addressed envelope. "She has been my best friend for a long time and I miss her very much. She has always been kind and supportive of me."
"Well, she sounds nice," Dusk said.
"She truly is," I agreed.
While I chatted to the fairies, my little dragon was perched on a velvet cushioned chair right next to mine, playfully dancing around the thick gray smoke that he breathed out of his tiny snout. He flapped his wings up and down, trying to catch it. It felt like we were having our own little party.
In the midst of the fun, Elisia was sitting on a nearby stool wearing a shirt of mine, her eyes focused on a small water bubble that she seemed to be controlling with her hands, moving it in all different directions.
"Did you know that I can control water with just a small movement of my hand?" she asked, looking at me through the crystal clear bubble.
"No, that's unbelievable!" I replied, amazed.
"I learned how to do it from my dad. Royals are the only ones who can. May I show you one of my favorite tricks?"
"Yes!" the fairies exclaimed, joining in on our conversation.
"Of course," I added enthusiastically.
"Okay," Elisia mumbled. "Here goes nothing."
She closed her eyes and took a slow deep breath. Suddenly, an almost full silver chalice that was sitting on my desk started to tremble vigorously. Shaking, the water inside started to emerge out of it in the shape of a sphere. I was amazed as the liquid moved towards her, combining with the water bubble she had formed earlier. She started to move her arms and hands in a circular motion above and below the water. Suddenly, Elisia put her hands down at her sides as the giant bubble turned into a thin elongated shape. It slowly traveled around and around where her hands once were, forming a perfect ring. The water sparkled in the candle light as it twirled around the room.
