Today, I am about to tell you an eventful tale about how an average cobbler's daughter did something that no one else had ever done and changed the entire kingdom she lived in forever. I am going to let you in on an interesting little fact. I am that average girl and the story that is about to unfold is actually my life. I feel that I should start at the beginning and share some background information about myself.

My name is Lindsay and I once lived in the Kingdom of Supiria. I have eyes bluer than the water in the ocean and hair the color of shimmering gold. (Well, that's how my dad always describes it). I live in a small cottage, which is also a shoe shop called, "A Shoe's Paradise". This is the place where my dad works. He is kind, smart, loving, and can be very overprotective at times; which you will learn more about soon enough.

I also have a younger sister who is six named Maria. She loves the color pink, unicorns, delicious cakes and sweets, and wants to be a royal princess someday. She also considers herself to be quite adorable as well, and I can agree with that. Maria is also the complete opposite of me. She is someone who loves all things girly, and I am someone who likes things that are adventurous and daring. Most people think these activities are meant for boys, but I don't really care about their opinion. I just like to do my own thing. In my opinion, there isn't anything that girls can't do that boys can. One of these things was my dream to be a royal knight. I had dreamed of this since I was just a little girl. Knights were so brave and heroic and I wanted to be just like them, saving people and protecting the kingdom.

There is one more person I have yet to mention. You've probably noticed that I haven't talked about my mom. Well, that's actually because she passed away a year after Maria was born. The cause of it was unknown to me for many years until one day I discovered the truth. Growing up, I always asked my dad about it, but he never wanted to talk about it. He always just wanted me to move on, though it never felt like he actually was moving on himself. I do remember that her leaving us happened so suddenly. One day she left the house to take a walk, and then the next, she was gone. I loved the time we had together so much and will treasure those precious memories forever. But enough about me and my family. Let us begin the story you've been waiting for.

It was a summer morning when all was quiet. No birds were chirping and no people could be heard. Just the whistling of the wind and the rain falling onto the ground. "Drip, drop, drip, drop," went the rain as it fell. All was peaceful and serenely quiet, until the delicate silence was broken. "BOOM!" went a loud crash of thunder. I quickly jerked awake to the noise of the crazy weather outside. The sky was dark and cloudy, the same as it had been for years. I was in my tiny bedroom and sat up in bed. My eyes quickly darted to my nightstand. Sitting there was my most prized possession. A ring adorned with a stone the color of amethyst sitting on the top shelf. It was the last thing my mom ever gave to me. I wore it every single day to remind me of her love and to always stay strong, like she demonstrated every day of her life.

I quickly realized the thunder from outside was not a very pleasant wake up call for two reasons. One, it was seven o'clock in the morning and I did not like waking up early. And two, I was dreaming the best dream ever. In it, I was slaying a dragon who was attacking the castle, and everyone in the kingdom was cheering my name. But that dream was quickly crushed by reality when I realized that it didn't actually happen. "I'm going back to bed," I thought. I laid my head back on the pillow and closed my eyes, but I couldn't fall back asleep. I tried everything; switching positions, fluffing my pillow, putting the covers over my eyes, but nothing worked. "Okay, I'm up. I guess I'll do my morning chores a little early today."

Before I could get started for the day, I changed out of my nightdress, and into some real clothes. Although my closet was filled with dresses, I chose what I liked best, a long sleeved, white shirt with a pair of long black pants. Then I put on a pair of brown leather boots which my dad made. Finally, I put on my special ring and whispered to myself as I felt the cool smooth stone, "I miss you mom." Dressed and ready for the day, I went over to my nightstand and retrieved my chore list so I could get started.

Lindsay's Morning Chore List

Put the wood in the fireplace

Feed the horse and chickens

Collect the eggs for the day

Pick the fruits and vegetables from the garden

Wake up Maria

Buy supplies for making shoes

When I was done glancing over my list, I quickly and quietly ran over to my door so I wouldn't wake anyone else up. I carefully twisted the rusted silver knob, pulled the door open, and walked out of my room to do what was needed for the day.
