"Well I wasn't expecting this... how have you been? Anita anxiously asked Savannah.

Savannah decided to have a civilized conversation with Anita after speaking with Aunt Angela. She decided that it was time to get rid of her demons and hopefully move on with her life.

"I've been doing better actually after dealing with a certain situation. The reason why I invited you to lunch was that we could possibly have a logic conversation without disrespect from both ends." Savannah said

Anita simply nodded her head.

"Look Savannah I never meant to hurt you at any capacity neither in the past nor now. I was very young when I gave birth to you and didn't know anything about raising a child. When the doctors placed you in my arms I knew right then and there that I needed to protect from this harsh world. For the first few months I was doing just that, but the drugs took over my life. I am just as responsible for the abuse as your father is." Anita sincerely said.

Savannah could tell that her "mother" was very sincere, after all of these years she was going to get the apology that she deserved.

"I'm so sorry for the pain that I put you through, I never meant for you to get hurt, I hope that someday you could possibly forgive me."

The two were silent for some time.

"Did you know that in high school I started writing poetry? It was a way to cope with pain both physically and mentally. There was one poem in particular that always captivated me, I was wondering if you wanted to hear it?" Savannah asked.

Anita nodded not knowing what was going to be said.

"It's called My Secret."

"There's a dark mass that occupies my mind. It doesn't really matter how much I try to let my memories of a frightened little girl cease. They always seem to come back at unexpected times.

It was hard not to blame myself for my own misfortune. I was always taught that bad things happened to bad people; something my mother preached... And practiced on me. If God protects his children, then he gave up on me a long time ago.

The world scares me. I'm too good for a world of lies and deceit, too terrible for a world of religion and cleanliness... So where do I go from here?
My mother taught me how to condemn myself to the pain and suffering of a lonely, sexually abused child.

Forever I am condemned to dark memories of old, wrinkled hands grasping at every crevice of my body. I am scarred from the black lips of a man who took my innocence the day I realized I was only an object for sex.
And you, mother, would have me believe that I deserved such treatment because I was born in sin. My memories destroy any chance at real intimacy. I remember boys caressing my figure and telling me it I deserved it for teasing them...

It will follow me wherever I go and I fear its too late to fix me now."

Anita had tears rolling down her face. Savannah simply stood up from her seat and looked at her mother.

"I will forgive but never forget Anita. I hope you have a blessed life." Savannah said and walked out of the restaurant.

"I'm finally free."

A Year Later...

"Baby can you come here for a second." Savannah semi yelled.

Ethan paused the video game and walked into the bathroom to see Savannah sitting on the toilet seat.

"Um- do you need something in particular because I really don't need to see you on the toilet."

"How do you fell about being a daddy again?"

Ethan stood there confused.

"What are you talking about?"

Savannah showed him the pregnancy test.

"Well honey there seems to be a problem, there is no way your pregnant for me." Ethan said nonchalantly.

Savannah quickly got up from the toilet and washed her hands, she was ready to beat his ass.

"What the in the hell are you talking about Ethan? Are you accusing me of whoring around?" She asked with her hand on her hip.

Ethan began uncontrollably laughing.

"Babe I was totally joking you're definitely not a woman that would cheat. I'm extremely happy that we're pregnant." He said kissed her.

"Woah there Vanilla Ice, what do you mean we're pregnant? You don't have to carry another human inside you for nine months! You don't have to gain almost fifty months! You won't have to endure depression after giving birth! You won't have to through twenty-four to seventy-two hours of labor! I will have to go through hell in order to make sure my angel gets here healthy and safely." Savannah harshly said.

"Yeah totally babe!" Ethan said trying to diffuse the situation.

They decided not to tell anyone about the pregnancy until Savannah was about five or six months, just to be on the safe side. In addition to dealing with a pregnancy, running a business, being a attentive mother/fiancé, Savannah also has to plan a wedding.

The wedding was going to be in Kauai, Hawaii, July 2016. It will be an intimate wedding with only close family and friends.

The whole family decided to work on their issues and have been closer ever since. Bertha and her daughter have a stronger bond than ever. Ethan and Nathan haven't seen or spoken to their parents in almost two years. Their sister Lisa got arrested for being an accomplice with Nino, they both will be serving twenty-five to life in maximum security prison.

Life was good for Savannah right now.
