Trip From Hell (PT 2)

Recap:

When he knew she left, he counted to ten before answering the door to be greeted by unwelcome guest.

"Hey marshmallow!"

Ethan was in disbelief, he couldn't believe that Aunt Bertha and Bennie decided to intrude on the vacation.

"Not to be rude or disrespectful, but what the hell are you two doing here?" Ethan asked with a slight attitude.

Aunt Bertha clutched her invisible pearls and gave a stern look at Ethan.

"Little boy I don't know who you think you talking too but I'm not the one. The reason why we're here is because we didn't feel like being cooped up in that house for a week. Isn't this supposedly a "family" trip?" Bertha asked with her head cocked to the side.

Ethan nodded his head and before starting a argument, he led the two stragglers in.

"Listen you guys this trip was supposed to be only Savannah, Kai, and I because I want to propose to her. The only reason why you guys weren't invited was because ya'll usually bring drama."

Bertha rolled her eyes and took a sip from her flask. Bennie couldn't even argue with Ethan, though he wouldn't let him know that.

"You're not going to marry my Cookie!" Bertha nearly yelled.

"Can please keep your voice down? And why not?" Ethan asked.

Bertha didn't want to discuss her past with anyone, but decided to share a small part of it with Bennie and Ethan.

"I don't know if ya'll know this but I was married once, a very long time ago. His name was George and he was the love of my life.I met George after escaping from an abusive relationship with my daughter's father."

"Wait so you have children?" Ethan asked in confusion.

"I only have one, my daughter Toni. She's a detective in New York and a Lesbian." Bertha said in disgust.

Ethan caught the tone of Bertha's voice an wanted to know more about the story.

"Anyway, Toni's father was a dirty dog who only wanted me for my looks. He told me after two years of dating that the only reason why he got with me was because of my appearance, not my personality. Turns out that he was a pimp and drug dealer. Long story short the last time he put his hands on me, a cop witnessed it and sent his ass to "booty paradise"!

"Booty Paradise?" Ethan and Bennie both asked in confusion.

"Prison you idiots!"

"Stop interrupting me! About a year after that situation, I was back being a independent woman. I was raising my child on my own, sometimes with the help of their mother. One night I went to the bar three blocks away from my house. I ordered my usual and listen to the soulful voice of Al Green.

As I was being whisked away by the music, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around ready to curse the person out, but just stared in his eyes. It was George and he wanted to order me a drink. I hesitated for a while but let him. We talked for hours until the owner kicked us out.

After that night, it was basically history. He accepted my daughter like she was his own and loved me unconditionally. We got married and moved into a safer neighborhood. Life was good until Toni's father came back, Kevin.

Kevin wanted me to get the message that he was the only man who loved me. George usually got home from work around 7:30, but never made it. I thought he had probably went to the bar with a coworker. As I was sleeping the phone ranged. I answered it and it was a detective calling me to come down to the station soon as possible. I hurriedly but safely drove there.
