Flashback ( Summer 2008)

Savannah was extremely tired from running errands all day, on top of taking the final exam for Calculus and Microbiology. Nino had been trying to get in contact with her all day, but she forgot to turn the ringer on her phone on.

By the time she decided to check her phone, it was already to late. She had 50 missed calls and 75 text messages from Nino! They all were the common " bitch where you at" or "pick up the motherfucking phone" or "wait till I see your ass at home".

She hurriedly drove home and thought she was in the clear when she didn't see Nino's car in the garage.

Walking into the house, Savannah had a eerie feeling. No lights, very cold, too quiet. She checked all of downstairs, simply no sign of him. She slowly walked upstairs and heared music coming from his office.

" She said I had the right to remain silent
Now I got her hollering, sounding like a siren

His door was ajar, just enough so that she could peek without being spotted.

Savannah couldn't believe what she was seeing: Nino getting oral from her supposed "best friend".

Savannah didn't know what to do. She wanted to rush in there and kill both of them, but she decided to wait it out.

After about 10 minutes of hearing Nino grunting, Savannah was fed up and rushed into his office.

"How could you? I thought you loved me. Why would you sleep with this bitch, out of all the others in the world?" Savannah said while her body was shaking.

Nino quickly opened up his eyes and grabbed his crotch. He zipped his pants and grabbed the girl and through her out.

He walked back into his office and sat down in his chair, pulling out a cigar and lighting it.

"Nigga I know you heared me! How could you do that shit to me? "

Nino darkly chuckled and took a puff of the cigar before speaking.

"Let me tell you something. You knew exactly what the fuck I was about when you met me. Don't act all surprised now. You acting like it was a random hoe, better be glad it's somebody you know! It ain't like you putting out!" He said nonchalantly .

Savannah shook her head and stopped crying.

" So you think sex is the only important factor in a relationship? I've been busy with school and putting up with your bullshit. You ain't no real man, if you were you wouldn't be complaining like a bitch all the time." she said with disgust in her voice.

Nino jumped from his chair and snatched Savannah. He slammed her body into the wall and stood over her.

"Bitch who the fuck you think you talking to! Youse a ungrateful lil cunt, you know that. If it wasn't for me your ass wouldn't be in school, you wouldn't have been exposed to the finer things in life. I MADE YOU and don't you ever forget that." he said and kicked her in the stomach.

He grabbed his cigar and started smoking it again. He walked over to his mini bar and poured him Cognac.
Downing the drink, he threw the glass at Savannah walked back over to her.

Savannah was now in the corner of the room. She was staring at floor the whole time, blood dripping from her forehead.

Nino grabbed her by her hair and dragged her to their bedroom. She was screaming for him to stop, but he wouldn't. Once inside, he locked the door and walked her way.

"Cuz of that shit you pulled early, I shoulda fucked you up. But I let you walk away, and I let you come get yo'self together. But bitch I'mma let you know if you ever pull that shit on me again, that will be your last motherfuckin' day standing, I promise you that. " He said with such venom in his tone and grabbed her face.

Nino began punching on Savannah, as if she was his human punching bag. She scratched his face and tried gouging out his eyes. Blow after blow, she stopped fighting back.

He picked her up and threw her on the bed. He took of his wife beater along with his belt.

"Since you want to get out of line, I'm about to show your ass something."

He started whooping her with the belt. Savannah screams and crying, made him hit her harder. The whopping went on for 15 minutes, nonstop.

He finally stopped when he his phone started ringing.

"Hola, como estas?"
...
"The meeting is in two days and it's very important."

...

"Yeah my wifey can't make it. She's going to be tied up with school and shit."
...
"I will and see you on Wednesday!"

Nino finished up his conversation and walked back toward Savannah.

"Have you learned your lesson?"

Savannah could barely move, her body was weak.

"Yes I have." she croaked out.

Satisfied with her answer, he told her to go get cleaned up and have dinner ready by 8.

Savannah was in the same position for some time. She couldn't believe why she was still in a relationship with a man who clearly never loved her.

She slowly got up and walked into the bathroom. The person she saw in the mirror wasn't her.

The person in the mirror had cuts and carpet burns. Scratches all on her face and a black eye. She was weak.

"I need to walk away from this." Savannah said and started cleaning off her face.
