TY'S POV
I'm stressed. She's not in a coma, she's just unconscious. They didn't know what was wrong so they did an MRI and a CAT scan and all they found is that she has a concussion.
I keep chasing the doctor around the hallways, demanding why she hasn't woken up.
It's only been about two hours.
"Sir." the doctor turns around. "Listen," he puts his arm around me. "I know you're worried. Trust me, all it is is a concussion. She's going to wake up. When she does, I think you need to be there."
I nod. "Okay." I say glumly.
I walk back down the hall to Megan's room and lean against the door frame with my hands in my pockets.
Why isn't she waking up.
Bruce, Megan's boss walks into the room.
"Wow." He says. "You really weren't kidding." he says to Katie.
She sighs and sits back down in her chair.
"So can she keep her job?" Katie asks.
Sighing, he nods.
He stays for a bit, and then he leaves.
I just watch her unconscious frame.
She has cuts all over her face and the palms of her hands are cut. She ripped right through her sweats and skinned her knee.
I remember how she was laying on me just minutes before she got hit.
She was so happy and loving.
Her brown eyes were shining.
I find my eyes welling with tears.
Hell no. I'm not crying.
My shrink is watching me.
"You okay?" he asks.
"I'm pretty sure you know that's a stupid question." I say.
Katie looks at me.
"This is all your fault." she says.
"Me?" I ask. "I didn't do anything."
"If you had stopped her, none of this would have happened!""None of us could predict this would happen! Honestly, you were the one that had to put your nose where it didn't belong! You just had to snap at her!"
"Whatever. The bitch had it coming."
"That person you're calling a bitch is Megan's Mom. Who is now gone. She fucking left. Because of you. Do you ever stop to think of the consequences to your actions?"
"Of course I do!"
"No you don't." I shake my head. She's raising her voice but I'm keeping my voice perfectly calm and level. "You don't think of consequences. If you did, you would think of how much this is going to affect Megan when she wakes up and realizes her Mother was going to stay, and then she left because you pissed her off for the second time in five minutes. Katie, this is hard for all of us." I say. "Not just you. How about instead of sitting there blaming everyone else for what you caused, you just sit here and wait like the rest of us have to. Stop blaming everyone because your consequences are coming to bite you in the ass."
Katie glares at me long and hard.
"Don't you dare walk into Megan's life after bullying her and act like your superior to me! I've been there since her Mother left the first time! You weren't! If anything, you made her life harder!"
