OnomatopoeiaAstaroth's POV
"HALT!"Two spears were pointed at her aggressively, their deadly edges gleaming under the moonlit night. But what went through Astaroth's mind instead was that their harpoon toys looked cute. As if a shaft with a butter knife stuck on the other end could kill the current her. Not when she's able to open Void rifts now. Exactly like a harbinger of death. That's what she intended on experimenting tonight. And what better place to try out her new unholy powers than to come to the family that had wronged her most. The one that introduced her to the savagery of humanity. In fact, she secretly wished the rift this time would be as large as possible. Enough to devour the entire region in one fell swoop—one night even. What can she say? She's depraved for a reason.
"You're trespassing into the Grays' territory! Turn back now or face the consequences!" one of the guards yelled arrogantly.
While vomiting brain rot, he swept her hooded figure disdainfully. Most definitely ridiculing her for being blind and retarded. Though that chauvinistic pig would eventually regret his poor life decisions when his head's gone.
Astaroth could hear animalistic growls in her mind. Kha'Zix was NOT happy with being ordered to stand down. After all, the Voidreaver has the tendency to blow its top and get in the way of her experiments. Of course she wouldn't take it out for walks! More like stuffed it inside a closet for all eternity!
Astaroth could clearly feel its unadulterated wrath. The dark aura flowing out was downright stifling. Good thing she threatened Kha'Zix to stay in the shadows. If there's one thing the lawless bug was terrified of, it's her grandfather's resentment. So unless Kha'Zix doesn't want to be summoned ever again, it would do best to behave. The time-out corner was the catastrophe's worst nightmare. Something Astaroth would forever be grateful for. The utmost reverence her grandfather had graciously granted her was the only thing keeping this unpredictable monster in check. Nothing else. So in a way, the geezer was both her and Kha'Zix's benefactor. Blessing them with priceless treasures to survive the bleak reality of this dog-eat-dog world.
She pressed her swollen temples irritably. Astaroth could feel the onset of yet another headache. After several night hunts spent with this feisty pest, she's starting to understand how it operates. Do not be mistaken by its towering height and ability to spew out peak poetry. The creature's basically an ill-disciplined brat. It didn't have any patience whatsoever. Whatever piqued its interest, Kha'Zix would stop at nothing to obtain it. Like a deranged infant. The voidreaver's impulsive nature could all be attributed to its ability to evolve excessively. It had always been on the winning end. Things that didn't go its way could be easily solved through insurmountable force. So of course anything below the position of apex predator was unfamiliar. Kha'Zix had never once experienced being denied cruelly. To the cockroach, life was all sunshine, butterflies and rainbows. So pliant. So cooperative. Always revolving around it. Everything was nice and dandy, where all its desires would come true without fail. Which was a recipe for disaster.
The Voidreaver's greatest gift was also a pitfall. Bloated ego and insufferable pride made Kha'Zix incapable of handling any setbacks or disappointment. An experience it should get used to soon when dealing with the Void empress whose powers reigned supreme over theirs. Currently anyway. Being the ultimate predator doesn't only require indomitable strength. That's merely one aspect of being God. Tact and wit were just as important. That's what separates hunters from the hunted. The reason why despite its colossal size and the ability to command a personal army, Rek'Sai would never amount to anything more than an overgrown guard dog. Because it offered nothing to the table except for mass destruction. A trait that's pretty common in their dysfunctional family. In other words, a mere glorified weapon.
