Akali's POV
What a shit day.

I was pacing back and forth in base, my fist clenching the earpiece so hard that it dug into my palm. Not only did I have two of the most undesirable kinds of humans on my team—a coward and an asshat—my thoughts were all on a certain wolf vastaya and how she didn't have any bangles on her. What should I even call her? Fake? Luna-wannabe? I remembered staring hard at her left wrist, searching for the familiar hint of pink. But there's none to be found. Which only made me extra cranky. I was so sure that she's my Asta. She has to be. Nevermind her trying to impale me yesterday, no one ever called me by that name except for that moody kid.

When I realised we were allocated to the same team, I tried smoothing things out. I don't want it to be awkward between us. And I especially don't want her to fight with a freaking hole in her palm. I wanted her to sit out. But the democracy ship ended up sinking since she randomly spat venom at me for no reason. It's not like I accidentally stepped on her toes or something. She just exploded out of nowhere, detonating my emotions too. Why was she calling me by that last name??? What 'Miss Tethi'?! Blargh! What happened to the nice 'Kali' pet name from yesterday???

Like the idiot I was, I fired back, "Then you better not drag me down!" only to regret it seconds later.

I'm here to make peace. Not start a war with Luna-wannabe. And my short fuse ended up destroying what little chance I have to get her to spill the beans. Then there's this bastard prof who decided to grind my gears too. The yapping old man was throwing shade at Luna-wannabe. But I clearly remembered him screeching the loudest yesterday. So now he's trying to act like he didn't just wet his pants??? Bloody hell! I could even see his damn legs shaking like leaves when the girl's gaze swept him.

And now, I had to deal with baboon teammates that's just picking willy-nilly. The day couldn't get any worse. Oh wait! It could. And it just did. I glanced at Luna-wannabe talking to her classmate. If I'm not wrong, her name's Freya. Looking at them conversing calmly while Luna-wannabe and I always blew shit up the moment we're within each other's vicinity, I was envious.

Why is she so nice to that girl??? What does she have that I don't?!

To make matters worse, seeing that spineless chicken cower while the other turd teammate was screaming orders at her just made me want to murder them. If Kaisa was a coward, that girl was even worse! She was so delicate and weakhearted that she looked like she's about to cry if anyone just so much as questioned her. Before I could die of anger, I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"What?!" I growled, whipping my head around, about to chew out the person who's bothering me.

It was Luna-wannabe. My tense face relaxed a little.

She didn't come to start beef with me, only asked, "Where's the earpiece I gave you?"

I opened my palm, revealing the earpiece and my slightly reddened palm. She rolled her eyes and took it, before popping them into my right ear. My breath hitched at the sudden close contact. It wasn't as repulsive as I thought it would be.

Asta...

"I will create a separate channel between you, me and Freya."

I frowned.

Her again! Why do we need her??? I can win for us.

I double-checked her left wrist. There was nothing there. Pursing my lips, I decided to test the waters.

I grabbed her wrist, "Where's your bangle?"

My eyes were focused on her expression, trying to catch any signs of guilt or panic. Luna-wannabe's face turned pale in an instant. Unfortunately, she didn't slip up. She only snatched her hand away, blowing her top again before scurrying to the opposite side of the platform. I didn't get what I was looking for, but it wasn't a complete mission failure. I noticed her voice became slightly agitated. Luna-wannabe was always calm, even when she's being stabbed. The only time she started cursing was when she's nervous. Like the time she raved while trying to cut my head off. And this time too. Something's fishy.
