Gethen's POV

[T/W: Gethen fears for his life.]

"Gisela!" I sat straight up on the sofa I had fallen asleep on. The dream came rushing back to me in an instant. It was hard to wrap my mind around the fact that it was fake. It seemed so real. I needed to scope that place out. Something was wrong. I could feel it.

"I'm getting bagels," I announced, and slunk out of the office.

When I set course for the street that was in my dream, everything appeared normal. The birds were chirping. The wind was blowing. I was about to call off my search and tell the office that the bagel shop was closed. But I couldn't do that! I was craving bagels, after all.

The wind whipped my hair and clothes. I had a bad feeling that something worse was about to come.

I nervously entered the store. The little bells rang.

"AAAH!" I screamed, jumping out the door.

"Relax, Gethen." I told myself. "Get your bagels and go."

I approached the woman at the counter. She seemed nice enough.

"Hello, Gethen." She told me. I backed up.

"How do you know my name?" I asked, shaking. The lady pointed behind me. On the TV was the newscast we had just recorded.

"I am your host, Gethen Ondsinn," TV-me was saying.

I gulped. "Of course."

I don't know what was wrong with my nerves. It was just a dream! I was most likely not going to die today. And this woman was not going to hurt me.

"Can I please have a dozen plain bagels for Gethen?" I squeaked.

And there I waited for my bagels. My stomach rumbled. Or... wait. Was that the sky?

I waved away the thought. Nah. It was sunny this morning. There was no way it would rain.

"Gethen?" Called the bagel lady. I stepped forward and grabbed my bag. It smelled awesome. [A/N: I wrote this while I was hungry T-T.]

"Thanks," I said, because I always have to keep my awesome reputation even off the news.

I left the store, a bounce in my step. I couldn't wait to bring these to the office.

Suddenly, I stopped in my tracks. The cream cheese. I forgot the cream cheese.

I desperately dug through the bag, looking for any complementary cream cheese. To my relief, I came out victorious.

"Yes!" I cheered. I threw the cream cheese back in my bag for safekeeping and headed on my way again. Then the sky rumbled and rain started pouring down in heavy sheets. [A/N: in remembrance of me and my sister having to walk through huge puddles in the pouring rain to get to school. We definitelyweren't shouting the lyrics to Boys Like You by ITZY while giggling like maniacs.]

"No!" I yelled, then broke into a run. "My coat's going to get wet!"

The sky rumbled again, maybe saying deal with it.

3rd Person POV in the office

Alvar looked out the window. "Should we be worrying about Gethen right now? He's out getting bagels right now, right?"

"I hope he didn't walk," Trix agreed.

"He did." Ruy pointed out. "I see his car parked on the street."

Alvar looked at Fintan. "Should we do something?"

"Nah," Fintan decided. "He'll be fine."

Gethen's POV

The wind blew. The rain hammered on the street. And on me.

"Help!" I waved my arms wildly at passing cars, but none of them paid me a passing glance.

Disheartened and soaking wet, I continued running back to the office. I may or may not have slipped and fallen a number of times before I gave up and took out my phone. I reached in and took out my BlackBerry. Hey, some of us don't like to change with the times, okay?! Call me old fashioned, but BlackBerries are the future. Think about bell-bottoms! [A/N: This scene (looked? Imagined?) best with a BlackBerry, so just go with it. For those who don't know BlackBerry phones were popular phones from 2001-2014. XD]

I pressed at the buttons, trying to call Alvar. Or better yet, Fintan. But I must've pressed the wrong button–happens all the time–because the screen read, calling Gisela.

"NO!" I shrieked. "Hang up! Hang up!"

But my phone was getting soaked, and it became harder and harder to control.

"Gethen?" Gisela's voice cracked in the BlackBerry's speaker. "Everything okay?"

For a minute I didn't speak–I didn't want to talk with her. Not once since she betrayed me. But I looked down at my soaking jacket, and realized I really did need help. It didn't matter who it was from–I just needed saving. As long as I played it cool, I would be fine. Right?

"Uh... H-hey, Gisela. How's, uh, how's it going?" I squeaked into the phone.

I could almost hear her frown. "Gethen? Everything alright?"

I nodded, then remembered she couldn't see me. "Yeah. Yeah, of course. I'm just, uh, stuck in the storm."

"So, why did you call me?" Gisela asked. "I assume I'm still fired. And you're probably still mad at me." "Oh, yes. Furious." I replied. But it was hard to have any angry emotions when I was soaked and freezing cold.

"I think I'm going to hang up now." Gisela informed me.

"NO!" I screamed into the phone. "Don't hang up! I need help!" "With what?" Gisela sounded annoyed.

"Well, as you may recall I mentioned, I'm stuck in the storm. By the bagel shop. Can you please pick me up before the roads flood and I have to swim to safety?" I know, that was a little dramatic. But sometimes the situation requires it.

"Fine." Gisela's voice crackled. "Be there in 10. See you there." I hung up and put the BlackBerry back in my pocket. Help was coming. I just had to wait a few minutes.

I didn't realize how much I would regret my decision until Gisela's silver Toyota pulled up to the curb.

"Gisela." I nodded at her.

"Gethen."
