Everything is supposed to be
All grand and joyous
During this one and only
Time of your life.
You have your whole future ahead -
And still yet - the time to
Make it as you wish.
Everyone all around has
People lifting them up,
Lighting them up like
The sun lights the day,
Lifting their soul up
To soar through the clouds
Without a worry in the world
To pass through their brains -
While the clear sting of
A windy summer night
Shrouds every corner
Of my body and mind.
It's been dark -
For quite some time,
But it's not pitch black
Every second of every hour -
Sometimes the light of the moon
Is so bright it lights up
The road ahead
So you can clearly see.
I've learned to love the moon,
The gently wavering way
It fluffs up the darkness -
Because it's gotten me this far -
But sometimes I feel a little selfish
When I say
I miss the light of the sun.
