The Ultimate Gamer

It was the month of January
And we'd go back to school.
All the fun in December was gone
But summer will be here soon

It was now the month that we'd be introduced to different situations
Which will then help us decide our future occupation

It was now the month
That we'd get our new classmates
New teachers and new classes.

For every class that we under took
We'd have to share something about our pass or the future that we see for ourselves.

With every new teacher
We'd have to introduce ourselves.
They would ask
What is your name?
What school did you attend?
What do you do in your spare time at home?
And what does your future behold?

Some of my classmates didn't know what awaited them and their future selves
Some questioned what they liked to do when there is no school work to do.

I was one of them
So I made a rash decision
I said that I liked to cook and paint in my spare time
And that my future occupation will be made to me in due time
And that ladies and gentlemen was a lie

A boy got up and said he was a gamer
But then it hit me, we are the same
He plays games with tactics and determination
Knowing that there is a prize to be won

Although I said that we are the same
There are some differences that go along way
For his weapons are controllers and guns
Mine is my mind and all the knowledge it holds

I stood up and said I was a gamer too
And my teacher asked about the games that I played
And I asked him "What do you mean by games?"
"Can they be anything?"
"Either fighting or cooking"
"Or do you have something in mind specifically?"

"Then if you dont know what a game is"
"It means that you're not a gamer," he said

And I told him that he was wrong
Because I play a game
A game of life

What do you mean by the game of life?
Every plays that game
Both you and me
Even the birds in the trees

I know we are all gamers
But you have to be in the moment
You have to focus and know the right move to make
Because if you don't
A lot of burdens and trouble will come your way

I'll lend you the manual
And the instructions while playing the game

Passing a test
Level up, hurray!

Failing a test
Level down. No play

Wow!, you got an power up
Make sure to use it right away
Because if you don't another opponent can take it away

Watch out, curve ball!
Make sure to duck or run away
Because if you don't
Great trouble will come your way

Make sure to follow the rules
Don't cheat, it won't end up your way
And I know from experience
If you see a cheat code
Look the other way.
