Background
Soa and Hyunjin met as JYP trainees and quickly bonded, not just as trainees, but also as classmates at SOPA (School of Performing Arts Seoul).
They often practiced together late at night, giving each other feedback and motivation. Hyunjin would always bring snacks for Soa, claiming she needed "more energy for her vocals and Soa would cheer for him whenever he danced, calling him "the prince of the studio."
Their connection was effortless, turning from teammates to close friends, and eventually, something more. At 16, they realized their feelings for each other.
But being trainees under strict dating bans, they knew they had to keep it a secret. They exchanged letters instead of texts, slipping them into each other's lockers. Hyunjin would always "accidentally" end up in the same vocal rooms as Soa. Whenever their groups were together, they'd steal glances, sending silent messages.
No one knew, except their closest friends, who saw right through them.
By 2019, their paths began to diverge. Soa was preparing for her debut in DIVINE, and her company had strict rules about dating. Hyunjin was gearing up for his debut, focusing entirely on his career.
They met one last time at their favorite park, sitting on the swings like they always did. "We're going to be so busy now," Soa whispered, staring at the ground. Hyunjin nodded. "Yeah... I guess we both knew this day would come."
She looked at him, tears forming. "It's not that I don't love you, Hyunjin. It's just..." He reached over, squeezing her hand. "I know, Soa. I know."
Even now, they remain friends, forever each other's first love.
