Hey, Mom

You skipped school for a week. You didn't even stay at home. You weren't taking care of yourself. Right after the fiasco on the roof, you ran to the cemetery and still haven't left. You had walked straight to a very specific grave, and laid there, crying yourself to sleep. It was an unhealthy thing to do, but that was what you wanted in that moment.

"Mom, I fucked up. I did the exact opposite of what you had asked of me. I - I broke his heart, and ruined any chance I may have had with him. I'm sorry. I'm a disappointment. Dad never loved me, and I understand if you don't love me anymore, either."

You looked at the headstone in front of you. "L/n M/n."

More tears fell from your eyes. "I miss you, mom. I almost did the same thing you did, well, came concept. I wasn't gonna hang myself. I'm too traumatized by it, but I was so ready to just jump from the school's roof. I wish you were still here. I need you now more than ever."

Of course, you weren't going to get a response from her. That would be impossible. She's been gone for about 10 years now. You only recently learned why she did it. Your father was a cheater that never gave a damn about his own wife and daughter. You doubted that you were his only child.

You hadn't been in contact with anyone since the rooftop incident. You had left your phone with Kageyama and had run here. You'd rather slowly die beside your mother's grave, than keep suffering around all those other people.

You thought people were terrible, they cheat and lie. They hurt others, even those that they claim to care about. They use others for their own pleasure, then discard them when they don't need or want them anymore.

That's exactly what your mother had wanted you to be able to see, to realize and stay away from. To you, Oikawa didn't seem to have any real intention of making amends with you. Even though he did. You thought he was just bored, and wanted something from you, something you wouldn't give him. So he moved on to someone that would give it to him, at least that's what happened in your mind.

It hurt you. You lost your will to go on.

Oikawa was infuriated by what you had said on the roof, but it hurt him more.

He wondered if you had lied about trying to forgive him. 'Did she really not want to move on from all of those mistakes from the past?'

Those kinds of thoughts ran through his head for the entire week. He hadn't seen you since that day on the roof. His team seemed down, and their moods would only get worse whenever he or Miyamura were anywhere near them. It made Oikawa feel distanced from his own friends. He wondered if they really cared about you more than they did for him.

Iwaizumi sighed beside the setter, his head down.

Oikawa looked at him. "What's wrong, Iwa-chan?"

The ace tensed, the others looking at him expectantly. "Kageyama had called, and texted me earlier. Apparently, Y/n hasn't been home, and isn't contacting anyone. He's worried that she's dead."

Oikawa couldn't believe that. "She's not talking to anyone?"

Everyone shook their heads, but only Iwaizumi spoke. "No one's seen her since that day on the roof. Based on her actions from then, there's a chance she could've tried to or successfully killed herself. None of us would know."

Oikawa's heart cracked upon hearing that. "Y/n-chan wouldn't."

Iwaizumi slammed his fists on the table, turning to Oikawa. "How would you know?! You're the reason she's been like this!"

Oikawa's eyes widened. "M-me?! How am I responsible for her actions?!"

Iwaizumi glared at the brunette beside him. "You just had to get a girlfriend after kissing Y/n, didn't you? Of course it ended up being the same bitch that tried making her life hell. What's wrong with you?"

"How's that relevant to the current problem?!" Oikawa's voice cracked.

Iwaizumi smacked the back of his head. "Dumbass! That kiss made her realize she likes you!"

Oikawa stood up, not believing what he just heard. "What? Stop messing with me Iwa-chan."

"He's not." Kunimi finally inserted himself into the conversation, pulling out his phone. "We all heard what she had said, even Kageyama heard as well." He played two recordings. One was a conversation with you about your newfound feelings for Oikawa, the time you had called all of them. The other was the entire team (excluding Oikawa), you, and Kageyama plotting the different ways they could break up Oikawa and Miyamura.

Oikawa couldn't believe what he heard you say in those recordings. You had sounded worried about Oikawa, showing that you actually care. It was the complete opposite of what you had said to Miyamura. "B-but what she said on the roof..."

"Your girlfriend pissed her off, and she stopped following the plan." Iwaizumi explained. "Y/n was just angry, and didn't mean what she said, Oikawa."

Oikawa thought that if what the guys had said was true, then he had to find you.

The captain started running, quickly sending a breakup text to Miyamura. He had to find you, but didn't know where you could be.

He was running past a cemetery, taking a quick glance inside. He stopped in his tracks as he saw a familiar head of h/c hair.

'Y/n-chan? Why's she in a cemetery?'

Oikawa started walking inside, only to find she was curled up at a grave. He looked at the headstone, reading the name on it as a whisper. "L/n M/n."

The dots connected. He believed this was your mother's grave, that your mother was dead.

He kneeled down and placed his hand on one of your shoulders, gently shaking you. "Y/n-chan, wake up." He spoke as softly as he could.

You felt yourself being gently shaken, hearing a voice calling out to you. You wake up, feeling disoriented. "Mom?"

"I'm not your mom, Y/n-chan."

You rubbed your eyes, and saw Oikawa kneeling in front of you. You could barely get any sound out when trying to speak to him. "Oi-Oikawa?"

Oikawa nodded. "That's me, Y/n-chan." He gave you a soft smile, the very same one that had melted your heart.

"What are you doing here?"

"Looking for you."

"In a cemetery? I mean, you weren't wrong, but why is this the first place you looked in?"

He sighed. "I was passing by, and saw your beautiful hair. Everyone told me that you hadn't been home, nor spoke to anyone since that day on the roof. I as informed by Iwa-chan that it was my fault, and I wanted to find you to apologize. I'm really sorry. I as an insensitive, inconsiderate asshole. I didn't realize that I was hurting you. I thought that by dating someone else, I'd be able to move on, and leave you alone."

"That obviously didn't work, you idiot." You looked at the ground, unable to look at him any longer.

"Yeah, I realize that, but you did some really irresponsible stuff, too. You have everyone worried sick over you, princess."

You look up upon hearing that nickname, meeting his soft gaze. "I-"

"I'm sorry." He leaned in and kissed you, wrapping his arms around your waist to pull you closer.
