The kids arrived at The House just in time, a mix of anticipation and anxiety swirling in the air.
Ritsu greeted them warmly, her virtual face lighting up with a bright smile. "I'm happy you guys are all here!"
"Thank you so much for your hard work, Ritsu!" Kayano expressed, her gratitude genuine as she took a moment to appreciate the AI's efforts.
"It's no problem, really, haha," Ritsu replied humbly, but her virtual eyes sparkled with pride at being part of the team's mission.
"Great, so we can go now?" Nakamura asked eagerly, bouncing on his heels, excitement bubbling just beneath the surface.
"Not exactly," Ritsu hesitated, a flicker of uncertainty crossing her features.
"What?! We have to wait even more?" Sugino exclaimed, frustration creeping into his voice. His hands clenched at his sides as he fought to contain his impatience.
Karma glanced at his phone and noticed someone calling. He lifted it, revealing the screen to the others. "Look who it is."
"Oh my gosh," Teraseka groaned at the sight of Karasuma's name flashing on Karma's screen. An involuntary shiver of dread coursed through the group.
"Hello, kids. Group A needs to report to training as soon as possible," Karasuma's voice came through the phone, authoritative and unwavering.
"What? No fair, Mr. K!" Okajima protested, his brows knitting together in disbelief.
"Sir! We want to help out with the Nagisa mission too," Kanzaki interjected, her voice filled with urgency. The weight of their mission hung heavy in the air, and she was desperate to contribute.
"Mr. K... seriously?" Mimura questioned, incredulous as he glanced at his friends, seeking their shared confusion.
"I guess it makes sense," Fuwa rationalized, crossing her arms thoughtfully, her detective instincts kicking in.
"How?" Sugaya pouted, a hint of rebellion in his tone. The thought of being sidelined stung more than he wanted to admit.
"It would be really ineffective if we were all going together," Fuwa explained, slipping into one of her signature detective poses, her posture straightening with determination.
"The best thing we have right now is the element of surprise," Karasuma added, his voice steady, guiding the group's focus back to the task at hand.
"So you're saying by splitting us in half, we would be able to get the mission done quicker?" Muramatsu sighed, the burden of the decision weighing on him.
"That's not really true... That one night, the night of graduation, we all made a pretty good team," Chiba pointed out quietly, his voice a calm amidst the chaos, but his heart sank at the thought of being apart.
"Right, there's no denying that we can work well together," Kayano agreed, her eyes scanning the room for affirmation, her heart swelling with a mix of pride and worry.
"The less people that go, the easier it will be!" Meg chimed in, her enthusiasm trying to cut through the tension.
"Yeah!" Isogai echoed her sentiment, hoping to rally the group.
"You guys are all shits and giggles because you don't have to go to training..." Okajima muttered, the envy lacing his words bitter.
"Yeah, we care about Nagisa just as much as you do," Kanzaki affirmed, her eyes flashing with determination.
"And staying back while you guys have to save him kind of hurts," Yada admitted, her voice soft but firm, sharing the weight of their collective concern.
