The wind was blowing strong gusts at me and Noah, threatening to send us toppling off the branch we were perched on. We were quite high up so I felt very afraid at the possibility of this.

We'd picked a tree close to the front of the house, just slightly to the right, so that we had a good view of the front door and the side windows, which looked into the kitchen. Sam and Amy were round the back, their tree having a view of the back and the other side of the house. We had all four sides covered. I had to help Noah to the top of the tree, using my experince from Camp Crystal Lake to help me, and we were very high off the ground, hidden in the leaves so no one would see us and call the police. I couldn't see Sam or Amy, but Noah, being taller and having a view not obstructed by the chimney, said he could just about see the side of Sam's face. We each had a walkie-talkie, which Amy stole from her younger brother, so we were using that to communicate with each other.

'Can you see her still?' Noah crunched loudly on a crisp, awaiting Sam's response from the other line. I dipped my hand into the bag of snacks as well and pulled out a packet of pretzels.

'Yeah, she's still in the living room. Sat on the sofa with the kid watching... something. I don't know.'

'Can you see the TV?'

'Yeah.'

'Describe what you see.'

'Why is that important?'

'It's not, I just want to see if I can guess it.' I heard Sam sigh and laughed quietly with Noah, slightly intrigued at how Sam would describe what he saw.

'Well it's black and white.'

'Really narrows it down, thanks Sam.' I rolled my eyes as I said this, a smirk on my lips, causing Noah to burst out laughing. There was nothing but silence on the other end as me and Noah fought to stay upright on the branch, not wanting to fall off to a certain hospital visit. It wasn't until Noah's eyes filled with terror and he abruptly stopped laughing, grabbing onto my hands and pointing to the window, was I able to control myself. My heart started pounding and an immediate sense of panic grew in me, terrified at what he might have seen. I traced my gaze along the path his finger pointed to, seeing Sarah stood in the kitchen window, looking out with a look of confusion on her face. I'd forgot that being high in the trees didn't mean we were cut off from everyone else: that we were'nt in a soundproof bubble. I could have ruined the entire plan right there and then.

But I calmed down immensely when I saw it was only Sarah he was pointing to. I turned back to him and smiled, placing my hand atop the one he held my arm with. 'That was really close.' I said through a breathy laugh. He smiled as well and let out a sigh of relief, nodding his head.

'Are you guys good? No one's died have they?' Sam's voice buzzed out through the walkie, startling me because I, frankly, forgot he was there.

'Yeah, no, we're fine. Sarah heard us is all and we almost got caught.'

'Hm, well, maybe if you hadn't had had so much attitude, that wouldn't have happened.' Sam's voice had the tinge of sass in his voice he often put on, causing me and Noah to roll our eyes at each other.

'Can you tell us more about what they're watching?'

'Well, as I was saying,' More sass. 'It's black and white. It's kind of dark and they're inside. It looks like... stone? And there's a guy in a white... coat-thing. Oh there's someone laying on a table. Oh and more guys opposite the first guy.'

Me and Noah looked at each other incredoulously. He was really bad at explaining things. I was going to make some remark about his shitty obversations when all of a sudden the answer came to me.

'Frankenstein!' Noah's eyes widened and he turned to me nodding and we high-fived. And a thought slowly crept upto me. 'Wait, Sam. You don't recognise Frankenstein?'

'Never seen it.' I heard a loud crunch from the other line.

'Yeah, but there's not many other movies about someone being stitched together and brought to life by a doctor. That's like the most famous scene from the movie as well.'

'Don't know what to tell you there, Y/N, don't recognise it.'

Noah's squinted his eyes and shook his head in disbelief and I just sighed and shrugged my shoulders, unsure what there was to say.

A quiet, almost undiscernible yelp sounded over the radio and me and Noah suddenly froze, unsure what it was. No one said anything.

'Guys? Are you okay?' Noah's voice was filled with fear and trembled a little on the last syllable.

No one answered. I turned to Noah and we locked eyes. I saw the entire circumference of his pupils when Amy's voice whispered through the radio.

'There's someone here.'

My entire body was trembling and I felt bile rising in my throat.

'Wh-who, Amy?'

'A man. He's right below us. Staring up.'

I could feel Noah shaking beside me and I feared he would fall off if he twitched or jerked. When he spoke, his voice was low and trembling.

'What do we do?'

I started grabbing our things, stuffing them in my backpack before cautiously swinging it onto my back.

'We're going to get them. And see who this man is.' Obviously I knew who it was, who else would it fucking be, but to Noah he would just be some guy. So I had to act like he was too.

'What? We're can't go there. What if he's big and strong, we'll have no chance.'

'We can't just sit here, Noah, they need our help.' I started to climb down the tree, carefully placing my feet onto the branches and scraping my palms on the bark as I slid down, until my feet thumped on grass. I heard the scraping of bark and then another set of feet thumped on the ground beside me. Noah face was a mix of fear and exhaustion, and I felt bad having roped everyone into this, knowing the outcome.

I set off towards the back of the house, making sure to stay close to the bushes to avoid alerting Sarah, and I heard Noah's tentative footsteps following me. My sight caught on Amy and Sam, who's eyes lit up when they saw me, despite them being even higher than me and Noah were. It wasn't until after that I spotted the large figure stood directly below, at the roots of the tree. I stopped in my tracks and I felt Noah's arm brush against mine as he came to a stop as well.

'Who is that?'

As if on cue, the ominous figure slowly turned around as if rooted to that spot, and out of the darkness of the night shone the blank, pale slate of Captain Kirk.
