We walked to our first class of the day one day, and suddenly Remus' eyes widened.
This is a common occurrence.Let me explain.
There had been a lot of instances much like the one where me and Remus saved the house points which James and Sirius would have lost us, if not for someone stopping them.
One of these instances where they did cost us house points, Severus Snape had crossed paths with us. He had been avoiding the Gryffindors, trying to make friends with anyone else instead, but he failed that when Lily introduced him to Marlene, Alice and me.
Of course James had hurried up to me to ask about the homework, and then the argument began, eventually Slughorn redacting five points from both Slytherin and Gryffindor for firing spells in the corridor. Now Remus' eyes were wide not because of Sirius and James.
"Oh dear," left my mouth airily, "I believe we should hurry right the other way."
"What?" Alice said, "Why?"
The next moment we were running, Lucius Malfoy shouting at us to stop, to answer for stupid actions. Whatever I had done to him, what on earth was it!?
When we reached the transfiguration classroom we slowed, only to find the prefect rounding the corner. We all looked at each other, but Alice was the one to make the decision and to run inside.
When we all stood inside the classroom and closed the door, I felt relieved.
The classroom was safe.Until we noticed Professor McGonagall giving us a questioning tight lipped glare.
A gulp sounded, I still don't know who it was from. That was how I lost my first five house points.
With having earned only ten, I now only had added five in total. So sad, though it was only week two.Later that very same day we sat down in charms. Sirius and James weren't only on time for this class, but they were jumping up and down excitedly.
"Remember," James said, "Swish and—"
"Flick," I said annoyed, "We've heard it all week, we all know by now."
Indeed, the two had repeated it since Professor Flitwick had given us a small explanation of our first spell. Now though, we'd actually get to learn it, and maybe even preform it if we succeeded already.
My wand, which I had found was a medium long ish, brown coloured... I'll have to ask olivanders for more details in the future, but my wand, lay on my desk as I patiently listened to the explanation.
I decided that I would preform actual magic today. If I could make potions, it meant that I wasn't magicless. I wasn't a muggle, but I was a witch!
Finally we got to try to cast the spell. The feathers flew up to us and I clutched my wand.
I smiled in confidence, I practiced with a mumble. I could do this!"Wingardium Leviosa!"
The feather did nothing.
My smile didn't drop as I tried again and again, happily joining into the messy chant going around the room, "Winguardium Leviosa!""Swish and flick," the Professor reminded us, "Pay attention to your pronunciation."
I remembered some class I had followed back home, when I was bored and tried again.
"Winguardium Leviosa!"
The feather flew up in the air, following the motion of my wand tip.A lonely but excited applause went through the air, along with gasps of surprise.
"That's possibly the fastest I've seen in years! Great job!" Professor Flitwick clapped. He stopped and reminded again to swish and flick in just the right way.
