When Remus went to class again, we were all kind of relieved.
"Finally he who does spelling checks!" Lily said as a joke and we all laughed.

That afternoon we borrowed a classroom and sat in a circle as we all made homework. Remus was trying to decipher how to work the charm and told us to not waist our time for him.

Eventually I gave up on homework and started helping Remus instead.
The wand movement was easiest. Then there was stance, then there was pronunciation and much more to understand.

Eventually Remus gave it a few tries. For fun I tried it as well. I already knew the spell, so I succeeded it at once. Sirius and James eventually jumped up to help as well, Peter following as usual. We ended up laughing when Peter accidentally jinxed James, and in the end Remus did the spell flawlessly.

Everyone high-fived and we ended up leaving with big smiles on our faces.

While we walked to the Gryffindor common room we continued joking. It was all fine and good until James randomly took a wrong turn. Literally.

I pointed. "James, the common room is this way."

James gave us one of his grins. Immediately I knew he was up to no good.
"We have to go this way first!"

Remus glanced at Peter, who looked at Sirius, who shrugged. I looked back at James and frowned at him. "This isn't one of your pranks, is it?"

"You see," James explained a bit nervously, "I was thinking about what you said the other day. I just thought we could all prank someone together?"

Remus sighed. Peter nervously glanced around and Sirius?
Sirius hesitated.
I noticed his eyes darting around a bit before Sirius suddenly grinned.
"You know what?" Sirius stepped forwards towards James, "Why not? What's the worst that can happen?"

I smiled at him before I glanced towards Peter and Remus.
"Are you guys in?"

"Are you?" Remus asked rethorically, "We all know it's a bad idea."

Peter glanced between Remus and me, and Sirius and James.
He gave a small shrug. "I don't see why rules aren't meant to be broken, Remus."

Hiding my smile behind a serious face, I looked at Remus. "We both know it'll be fun." Excitement swirled around in my stomach.

"It won't be worth it."

"Oh, it will!" James cheered, "Just you see!"

Sirius grinned and nodded.
Finally Remus huffed and shook his head.
"Fine! Just one small prank, but I should never have befriended you guys!"

"Ouch," I said, though I smiled.

"Didn't mean it like that," Remus added as he looked away. The jokes continued as though nothing had changed, though now we planned out our prank.

The thing I thought was most pretty about the mornings at Hogwarts were the sunrises. I stared out of the window, waiting for the marauders— well, the future marauders as they haven't yet acquired that name— for them to get down from their dormitory. The girls had gone down by now, but even when Remus came downstairs, the other three had to take their time.

Finally James came downstairs. He grinned and messed up his hair. "Let's go to the great hall!" He walked to the portrait hole and we all followed.

Usually I'd walk with Marlene, Lily and Alice, but not today. Lily had rolled her eyes when I told her this, but she wasn't mad since she thought I only befriended the other boys because of Remus. Of course that wasn't true, but Lily couldn't stand James and Sirius, so I let her believe it so she could get off my a—
