"I'm going home."
That's what I told the marauders.
I sat with my legs pulled up to the train seat. My head leaned on my knees as I looked outside. James was excitedly talking to Sirius while Peter occasionally joined in.

"Aren't you excited to get home?" James asked me suddenly.

I looked up and gave the three a smile. "Sure I am, but I'll really miss Hogwarts."

"Pfff, it's just two weeks," James said as he leaned back, "I for one—"

"I'll miss Hogwarts too," Sirius said as he gave me a smile, "But it's just two weeks, it'll be fine."

"If I can, I'll write to you," I told Sirius, "Will you write to me?"

Sirius nodded and Peter spoke up. "I'll write as well!"

James rolled his eyes at them, but Sirius send him a look.
"Fine," James said with a sigh, "I'll write as well."

Almost mischievously, I smiled.
The holidays shouldn't prove that horrible, I decided, if I got to write letters.

After some games of exploding snap and learning wizard chess, the train stopped at kings cross station, platform nine and three quarters. I realised I had never been on the station, having appeared on the train while it was moving to Hogwarts already.

I got off the train and got my trunk. Remus and Peter hurried off to their parents, Sirius and James lingering back for different reasons. We all stayed back for different reasons, actually. Sirius was obvious, he was scared of Walburga. James was probably not in the mood to get covered in his parents' hugs, and me? I didn't know who I was looking for.

Suddenly two kind looking people walked up to us. It was an older man and a young woman.
"(Y/n)! I've missed you so much!" Without warning I got caught up in a big hug by the young woman. "Grandpa wanted to come, if that's okay."

"It's fine," I said almost confused, glancing at Sirius (who looked away) and James (who smirked at the opportunity to tease me). "These are two of my friends," I said as I jumped back, giving James a look not to go and mention it. The young woman turned to Sirius and James, giving them a polite nod and thanking them for being my friend.
I nervously looked at the older man. He stared forwards a bit, not really interested in anything at all.

Who on earth were these people? Surely I had expected strangers to find me, but what was this?
The younger woman finally gestured for me to leave and I said one last bye to James and Sirius. The idea of going with strangers didn't sit well with me, but I was scared of what would happen if I didn't go.

The young woman found the exit and excitedly grabbed my shoulders. I pushed the trolley along as the older man trailed behind us tiredly.

We found the parking lot outside where there were less people. The old man sat down in a car while the young woman helped me out the trunk in the back.
"Did you have fun?" She asked in a strange voice.

I carefully stepped away from my trunk when the car closed. "Yes, I suppose so."

The woman gave me a cheerful smile. It didn't seem fake, so I got to the car.
Once inside the car, I waited until the woman had closed the door to her seat and spoke up.
"Who the fuck are you guys?"

The older man raised his eyebrows as the girl cleared her throat.
"Let's wait with that until we get home, okay?" Her voice softened a bit.

"Where is this home?" I persisted, "Can't I know your names? Do you know who—"

"At home!" The young woman said with a finality in her voice. She started the car and drove off.

Some snow fell while we drove, matching the cold inside the car. I hugged my hands to each other, looking out the window and memorising the way back to the station. I hadn't thought yet about a wizard way to travel but my thoughts found enough muggle ways. I didn't get to do magic outside of school anyway. The amount of underground's in London couldn't match up to my different plans still though.

Finally the car stopped in the middle of seemingly nowhere. White snow lay all around the fields, some green grass and trees shining through. The woman got my trunk and gestured for me to head inside.
I glanced to the door where the older man stood.

"Can I—"

"Inside," the young woman sighed, "You'll get all the answers you want."

My eyes lit up. It sounded like she was trying to bribe me to go inside, but it sounded like exactly what I needed. Just some answers.

I hurried passed the older man, inside. The house was rather small. There were probably three bedrooms, a small living room with a couch I just stepped in, and a kitchen. There was a door to who knew where, and the living room held a few pictures of a happy family on the hearth.
I stepped towards the pictures curiously, grabbing one and wiping the dust off it. When I recognised the face of the young woman, hugging someone tightly, a bright smile on her face and a kid in the middle of them, I looked back at the door.
The woman carried my trunk inside and tiredly brushed her hands off on her lose dress.
What happened to her?

"Carry your trunk up, you may pick a room," the woman said, "I'm gunna make some tea." She disappeared in the kitchen. Some disappointment filled me, but I told myself I could ask questions over some tea in a second.

The older man sat down on the couch, staring at the pictures. I put the one down I was holding and awkwardly walked passed him.

"She used to be happy," the man spoke up, "Until she lost all that. She's not evil, is my point."

I looked back at him, but he didn't meet my eyes. He just continued to stare before he sighed and grabbed the paper next to him.

Upstairs I chose the bedroom closest to the window where I could see the car outside. It had a large bookcase which I filled with my Hogwarts books and then stepped back with a smile. They were on alphabetical order.

"Hey, tea's ready, if you want to talk!" The young woman called upstairs. I brushed some dust off my hands and decided I'd need to clean here. Otherwise I'd come to Hogwarts looking like Snivellus— the marauders were rubbing off on me, I meant Snape.

I sat down on the couch opposite the man, the young woman sitting next to him with a warm cup of tea. I kept my tea on the coffee table, not confident with drinking it just yet.
I spoke up first, "Why am I here?"

The young woman sipped her tea.
"You're an experiment."
As I sat up, the young woman sighed and explained further. "Einstein came with this idea of multiple realities. You know what I'm talking about. What most people don't know though, would be that it's true. There's multiple realities which if you find a weak spot you can travel to."

"So why am I here?" I asked curiously, "And why me? Why not some cooler person?"

"The people researching this, they found a way to bring someone over to our reality. They used magic with their research, as you may have guessed, to make that possible. Doing so, they had to use the body of a magical person..." The woman looked away, hurt in her eyes, "I didn't know she would die once you took over her body."

The man glanced over to the picture and I realised.
The corners of my vision seemed to blacken slightly. I felt weird, breathless for a second as I looked at the pictures.
"I'm so sorry—" had I taken over her daughters body? That's...

Now that's fucked up.
