Keigo's POV

"How dare you think it's okay to trick us like that?" I asked, in my usual cold tone.

"Listen, we didn't want to do it!" Izanagi exclaimed, covering himself with his hands.

They were both on the floor in front of me, begging for forgiveness. I rolled my eyes, knocked them out, and tied their hands together with a nearby rope. Then, I flew back inside to finish this mission.

"Huh? Where the hell did they go?" Akihito questioned, looking around.

"I had to take them outside and deal with them," I said, taking two blades from my feathers.

I used rushed up to him, and tried to hit him, but he dodged. I wasn't that experienced when it came to hand-to-hand combat. I used a few of my feathers to free Rumi, and she quickly used her good leg to hit Akihito to the ground. She pinned Akihito to the ground as I prepared to strike him unconscious.

"Both of you can go to hell." Akihito spat.

"FREEZE!"

Rumi and I froze as we turned around confused. I sighed in relief when I saw policemen rushing inside.

"Are there any other villains, Hawks?" Detective Tsukauchi asked, his gun pointed at Akihito.

"Yeah, two of them are outside," I responded.

He took a good look at Rumi, who was still pinning Akihito down with all her strength.

"Let's get you both to a hospital. Those wounds look bad, Mirko." He commented.

She let Akihito go, as guns surrounded him.

The first one had curly black hair, brown eyes, and scars all over his face.
We got this guy.

The second one had brown hair, blue eyes, and a cigarette in his mouth.
This was Akihito.

The last one had brown hair and brown eyes but had the ears of some sort of animal.
This was Izanagi's other form, the damn traitor.

"We did it..." I sighed, taking a second to breathe.

"Yup," Rumi replied, tiredly.

Her leg was red and swollen and I knew we needed to get her to a hospital immediately. Shit, it's probably the poison from Akihito's stupid quirk. I quickly assessed the situation and realized that she wouldn't be able to walk on her own.

"Should we get her into the ambulance?" A policeman questioned.

"We won't make it in time!" I exclaimed, picking her up in my arms.

"Hawks, don't!" Detective yelled, but I ignored him.

I could feel her grip on my arm tightened as I soared through the sky, hoping we would make it in time. The adrenaline pumping through my veins helped me focus on the task at hand, despite the excruciating ache in my body.

"Rumi, stay with me! We still have to celebrate together, so hold on!" I exclaimed, tightening my grip on her.

Rumi's POV

For a second, I thought I had died. I heard Keigo yell some words, but I couldn't grasp what he said. My vision was blurry and my ears rang, making it difficult to focus on anything. Slowly, the world around me started to come back into view as I regained consciousness.

"Are you gonna sleep forever?"

The room was unfamiliar, with stark white walls and a faint hum of machinery in the background. I managed to sit up and was met with Keigo. He was also bandaged, but he was still sitting down next to me.

"Glad to see you're awake," he said with a smile. "You took quite a hit, but we're both lucky to be alive."

"Did you stay here with me?" I asked, wondering when he got here.

"Yeah. Just wanted to make sure you weren't confused or anything when you woke up." He explained.

"I'm sorry." I whispered, "This whole mission was shit and a waste of time. Izanagi somehow pretended to be a hero, and my ex-boyfriend from high school was the mastermind of this whole thing. It doesn't sound believable."

"Well, let's just be grateful we completed the mission," Keigo added, standing up.

"You don't see me differently? I'm supposed to be a strong hero, but I couldn't even stop Izanagi..." I said before he cut me off.

"Listen, everyone makes mistakes, including heroes. Don't beat yourself up because of that. Plus, neither of us knew he was evil, not even the commission." Keigo explained.

I smiled, realizing he was right.

"You were great though. I saw the way you grabbed those guys and dragged them outside!" I exclaimed, softly punching the air.

Keigo grinned, as he leaned in closer to my face.

"Thanks. You were good yourself." He responded.

"Uhh, why are you so close?" I asked, feeling his breath on my cheek.

Suddenly, he leaned in and pressed his lips against mine as he closed his eyes. I closed my eyes as well, and I could feel both our hearts pounding. I placed my hand on his chest, as he used his wings to pull me closer.

I told myself that love is for the weak.  So why am I not stopping him?

I promised myself I would never fall in love again. So why am I not pushing away?
