CHAPTER TWO

UNACCOMPANIED MINOR

————————————————

TATUM WATCHED THE BUILDINGS speed by as they headed to the airport. She let out a tired sigh, she really didn't want to go.

She leaned close to the window and huffed out a breath, causing it to fog up. Using her finger, she drew a frowny face.

"At least we're expressing our emotions in a healthy creative manner." Gale joked.

"Woodsboro sucks. Why can't he just move to Los Angeles or something?" Tatum wondered.

She couldn't understand why her father wanted so badly to stay in a boring ass town that's brought him nothing but pain and suffering.

Both literally and figuratively.

"That's just where your father feels at home."

"The place where his baby sister was brutally murdered and he was stabbed so much that he has permanent nerve damage, is the place he feels most at home."

Gale never got why Dewey wanted to stay in Woodsboro so bad either.

Gale pulled Tatum close to her and wrapped an arm around her daughter, "Yeah, he's never been the brightest."

"Why don't you come?" Tatum glanced up at her mom, "It'd be fun."

"What? Me go to Woodsboro?" Tatum nodded, "No, absolutely not. I've had enough of being in that town for a lifetime."

A few minutes later, they finally arrive at the Newark Liberty International Airport, the driver pulls over and parks the car before getting out to help with the bags. Tate unblucks herself before sliding out of the car with her mom close behind her. They go to the back of the car, Tatum grabbed her carry on bag leaving the rest for other people to take. Just because she was being forced out of the city didn't mean she was going to be help with helpful.

Gale looked into the trunk with disbelief, there was five full size suitcases, she was only going to be gone for a week, "Did you have to pack so much? You're only going to be away for a few days."

"I'm bringing my comfort things."

Jennifer attempted to help with the bags, but the moment she pulled it free it fell straight down onto the filthy New York City street with a thud, barely missing her toes. She turned to look at Tatum with wide eyes, "Are you stashing a dead body in here?"

Gale rolled her eyes, how more dramatic could her daughter get, she then spotted her daughter's cream colored tennis bag, "Why are you taking your racket?"

Tatum shrugged, "I need to practice, and since I couldn't bring my fencing sword..."

"Really?"

The blonde smiled, "Yes."
