TATUM DROPPED DOWN TO HER KNEES WHEN THE GUN WENT OFF, she froze waiting to be shot. When the pain never came, she opened her eyes and the first thing Tatum saw a bullet hole an inch to her left.
She heard the trigger of the gun stall continuously, Tatum looked over her shoulder at Amber, she was repeatedly pulling the gun trigger. The girl was growing frustrated and Tatum used the opportunity to stand up, open the door and ran out the front door.
Tatum knew if she ran straight and Amber managed to get the gun to work, she would be shot, so she ran to the left and hid on the left side of the patio couch.
She watched a silver car pull and a moment later she watched her mom and Sydney step out.
Seconds later, Amber ran out of the house, screeching like a banshee.
Gale came to an abrupt stop in front of Stu's old house, and she immediately jumped out, followed by Sydney close behind.
Her heart dropped to her stomach when she spotted her daughter crouched down, hiding behind a patio couch. She could immediately tell something was horribly wrong by the tears rolling down her face.
One thing about her daughter, she didn't cry. Or get scared. And just by the look in her eyes, and the way she was shaking, Gale knew her daughter wasn't faking, it was genuine fear.
Gale took a few hurried towards her daughter but a teenage girl running out the house, screaming her head off.
"Help me, help me! He stabbed me!" The girl screamed through her panting.
Sydney turned to Gale, doubting the girl's performance, "What do you think?"
Gale doubted the girl was genuine but when she looked over to her daughter her theory was confirmed.
Tatum shook her head as her bright blue eyes widened with fear, "Trap." Gale said.
The girl instantly stopped her screeching, "Fuck it."
Gale watched her pull a gun from behind her back and aimed it at them, "Shit," she muttered and attempted to move out the line of fire, but was struck in her abdomen before she could make the move. She collapsed to the ground right as Sydney whipped out her own gun and aimed for the teen.
Sydney went over to her, "Gale! Gale! Let me see."
A set of fast approaching footsteps startled them, and Sydney immediately pulled her gun out again. When they saw Tatum, the gun was put away.
Tatum dropped down next to Gale, "Mommy!" She sobbed, watching the blood pour from the wound and onto the grass.
Gale reached up with her non bloodied hand and whipped away her daughter's stray tear, "I'm okay. Everything's okay."
"Mommy you're hurt."
"I'm gonna be okay." Gale promised her.
"You gotta go to the hospital." Sydney said.
Gale shook her head, "You said we were gonna finish this. Go finish it. Sydney."
"Gale." Sydney said.
"For Dewey." Tears welled up in Gale's eyes.
Sydney glanced one last at the mother daughter duo before getting up and head into the house.
Tatum frowned when her mom mentioned her dad, "Why for Dewey?"
"Ace, your dad... he—" Gale began but saw someone coming out of the house, "Run and don't come back, okay."
