I wasn't trying to fall in love. I never had any intention of doing so. I always had my mind set on helping run my parent's restaurant, The Offredi Restaurant. Business was always busy since it was the number one restaurant in town. I do multiple tasks here and sometimes greet others which means I always recognize when new faces appear. One odd evening, I met someone interesting.
"Table for one," said a light blonde-haired, blue-eyed, strange guy. I could tell he was Swedish because of his accent. He wore a fur coat and blue jeans. He looked very charming and determined. "Okay," I reply, grabbing the laminated menus from a stack on the waiter's stand.
"Follow me," I say and lead him to a table that overlooks the pier and ocean outside of a window. It's a beautiful view and sometimes, if it isn't too cold, I'll go over there to see the view by myself. I get flashbacks just looking at this view. It's where my parents got engaged, and where they also decided to get married. When my Nonno passed, they inherited his restaurant and decided to keep it in business. I guess it paid off in the end.
After I realized I had been daydreaming, I felt a finger tapping my shoulder. I probably looked like a fool to this guy. "Is this my table miss?" He said somewhat curtly. "Oh, yes sorry sir," I awkwardly chuckle and then go off to find Tracy who needs to take his order. "Tracy, can you take table five's order?" I ask. "Okay Lorena but I think you should." She raises her eyes up and down in a flirty way. "He is totally checking you out..." She smirks. "Okay, ma'am he doesn't even know my first name," I roll my eyes and go back to the kitchen.
Then, I never crossed paths with that guy again. However, my gut told me my co-worker Tracy might have been onto something. Maybe she was wrong, I couldn't tell. Until one day I saw this familiar face enter the back of the kitchen, with an apron.
