It is Saturday and I get up around 6 to head to the nearby airport by 7. My Mamma and Papa are leaving today and not bringing me with them to Italy. I was sad about it at first, but then I realized it was for their anniversary. My Papa booked the flight to surprise my Mamma and boy, she was shocked. She was so excited, I heard about it for days. Now, the day has finally come. I get my items in my car and drive to the airport.

Once I arrive, it takes me a minute to see where my Mamma and Papa are. I see others that are rapidly searching for their loved ones and I see a crew of people in the military yearning for their loved ones. Man, military families do not have it easy. I look away because I do not need to be having tears while they leave. I finally find my parents and run towards them.

"Hi," I hug them and they hug back. "Well, our bon voyage begins." My Mamma beams and looks up at my Papa in love. I never quite knew what it was like to be in love but if anyone was in love, it was these two dodo heads. "Yes it does dear," He puts his arm around her. Okay, this is getting awkward.

"Well, I'll let you go. Please stay in touch if anything happens," I exclaim. "You know us, tesoro. We will do that." Tesoro is another name he likes to call me which means sweetheart in English. "I will see you in 13 days, Lorena." My Mamma gives me one more hug with a slight sparkle in her eye. I watch them leave and try not to cry because I don't want them to think I'm sad.

They will have a great time in Italy. I had only been there one time for the summer. I was around 4 years old. My Nonna had told my parents in advance that she was going to take me for a bit at her other house. She took me to see the Colosseum, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, many cinemas, and many other attractions. She told me many tales of when she was a girl living in Italy. She told of how she got her education and departed for our city at one point because she wanted to settle down elsewhere.

I asked my Nonna why she wanted to leave and she told me that she had always had her mind set on giving others her heart. She then told me by the end of that trip that her "heart" was a piece of Italy. I finally understood then why she wanted to start a restaurant. To give others a taste of the authentic cuisine that we provide and produce.

That summer was one of the best summers of my life for many great sites and events. I just wish I could go back and give my Nonna one last hug....

I take my things and walk down the escalator that leads to the parking garage. Some families are grabbing luggage from the rotating dispenser. Some other families look very tired and want to go home. They must have woken up very early, probably earlier than me. I almost leave and then I look over and see Elias. What is he even doing here? I walked up to him in curiosity.

"What are you doing here?" I ask. He takes his hand through his long brown hair. "My Dad is leaving for Sweden," He looks over at other pedestrians leaving the airport and then looks back at me with sadness in his face. "Oh okay, are you okay?" I ask. He looks very depressed.

"I'm okay, my parents are getting divorced though. My Dad wanted to leave for Sweden and my Mom wanted to stay, so they had a big fight." He shakes his head and rolls his head. "I probably shouldn't have even told you this. You have enough to deal with right now." God, how could this man get more attractive?

"I am here if you need me, Elias." I suddenly embrace him and he doesn't let go.

"I'm so sorry, Elias. I could never understand what you're going through but I'm here for you if you need me." I let go of his warm embrace. His embrace feels profound, and I find myself wondering whether he's ever experienced a hug like this before. As we hold each other, it's as if our hearts align perfectly, and all tension melts away. In that moment, I wish time would stand still, allowing us to stay locked in each other's arms forever.

After a few moments, he gently pushes a strand of my long brown hair behind my ear, his gaze intense as he locks eyes with mine. At that moment, it feels as though we're the only two people in the entire room. "Lorena, you're so beautiful," he murmurs softly, his words sending a thudding through my heart.

He closes the gap between us, leaning in to plant a gentle kiss on my lips, his hand cradling my face. The kiss is sweet, filled with genuine emotion, not forced in the slightest. I respond eagerly, wrapping my arms around him, inviting him to deepen the kiss. As we embrace, a realization washes over me- we've just shared a kiss.
