Two River Gardens is a very peaceful park that is surrounded by many ash trees and has the essence of life and fulfillment. There are many benches in this park and one circular pond that has a small bridge people use to walk over to see many more glimpses of nature.
I've been going to Two River Gardens ever since I was little. I know Elias will absolutely fall in love with the environment as soon as he sees it. It was my sweet escape on a lonely day. After the workday is finished, I get in my car and drive to the park after I give Scarlet my goodbyes and lock up the apartment.
The sunset has almost begun when I get there. The clouds display a variety of different hues that absorb my soul.
I walk out of the car and see Elias. He is leaning on the railing of the bridge. He turns his eyes to gaze at me. I don't know how but he always sensed when I was near. His gaze always stopped me in my tracks.
He is holding a light brown bag in his hand. "Hey Elias," I tell him mellowly. I smile at him but he looks down. "Hi," He responds. He seems to be in distress but I don't want to assume that and cause a ruckus.
He's dressed in a cozy gray sweatshirt paired with dark blue jeans, his hands casually tucked into his pockets as he slings his bag over his shoulder. As I start walking, he falls into step beside me effortlessly. Taking a deep breath, I guide him towards a secluded spot, away from the hustle and bustle, where we can enjoy some quiet moments together.
I take a minute to phrase what I am about to say, then I begin.
"Elias?" I say as we both sit down.
"Yes, Lorena?" His deep and strong voice says to me.
He is sitting very close to me and I finally turn my head to him after looking in my lap for a moment. I am, at first, taken away by his presence. But I know I have to continue.
"I will go on that date with you whether you like it or not." I say bluntly as he gives me a commanding look. "Uh-" I cut him off. "Because I know you want to go on that date with me too."
He looks deeply at me and lets me add on.
"We both know that we want to be with each other." He glares at me but he agrees with me deep down even if his face doesn't say that. "Well I wasn't expecting that Lorena." We both laughed. I know my face is about as bright as a tomato.
"I've always been fascinated by your courage." He smirks and looks down. "And that was a bold comment. But you're not wrong." I laughed with him. "Why were you so hesitant at first?"
Should I tell him the truth?
That it was because my parents told me not to get involved?
I gulp and then continue.
"Because I have a lot to deal with Elias." Lie. "And I do have a lot to deal with, but I need to relax. And I want you Elias."
Everything in our midst quiets down. It was if the environment wanted this moment to be special. "I want you too."
As the sun reaches its setting point, he leans in, and our lips meet in a tender kiss. His palm rests gently against my face, conveying warmth and affection. After the kiss, we lean our foreheads together, our breaths synchronizing as our bodies inhale and exhale in unison. In that peaceful moment, time seems to stand still, enveloping us in a shared sense of connection.
"We better get touring the park." I playfully tell him with a smirk still having my head adjacent to his. "It's so beautiful." I nod, and we both get up off the bench.
We hold hands as we walk down the small bridge. "What are you carrying in that bag?" I ask him out of curiosity. "Just a camera," He opens the bag to reveal a camera that is in wonderful condition.
"Why do you have that with you?" I ask with my eyebrows raised. "I like to get some pictures of nature. Nature has always been one of the things that's brought peace in my life." He drops my hand and puts his eye up to the camera. We are in the middle of the bridge and he takes a shot of a plant by the water.
"I mean just look at this." He gives me the camera and I see that he got a picture of a bee trying to pollinate a flower. "That is beautiful," I look more into the photo, "This is really high quality." He sighs. "Yep, one of the nice things you can get out of having rich parents." I gave him back the camera.
"So have your parents always been iffy with you?" I question. He sighs once again. "I mean, my mom has always been there, my dad is the iffy one." We get off the bridge and walk towards our cars. He gets two more shots from his camera and I get to see every single photo after he gets it.
"Go stand up by that tree Lorena." He says abruptly. "Wait, what?" I say high-pitched. "You heard me, go stand up by that tree." I laughed and ran up by the tree. "Say cheese," I say mockingly and he rolls his eyes with a smile.
"Wow, I've gotta say, this is one of the most beautiful shots I've gotten." I run up to him and nudge him. "Let me see," I take the camera and look. I really love this photo of me. "I'd caption it daydreamer." I laugh and we make our way to the parking lot.
"Thank you for this."
"Absolutely, I'll see you later."
"I'll see you later sweet Lorena."
I blush and walk slowly away.
