Poe looked at himself in the mirror, his jacket sporting the emblem of the resistance on the side of his sleeve. The jacket was getting old, and he was getting too tired of this job. He couldn't imagine having to run the Resistance by himself- he was more than glad to have Finn by his side.

"Looking good." Poe looked in the mirror to see Finn standing behind him, grinning sheepishly. Finn held his partner from behind, wrapping his arms around Poe's waist. He gave Poe a little kiss on the cheek before he spoke.

"I've been thinking about what you said," Finn murmured into Poe's ear. "about having less responsibilities in the Resistance and all that."

"Yeah?" Poe asked, putting his own hands over Finn's.

"I think I'll be happy with whatever you choose to do." Finn decided, "Even if it means giving this job a rest. As long as we stick together, yeah?"

Poe nodded. "Of course. And, are you sure about this?"

"I'm sure." Finn insisted. He rested his head on Poe's shoulder.

"Okay," Poe told him, "I'm not sure if I'm ready to quit just yet, but this'll be the last of the negotiations I do. And then maybe we can settle down somewhere together."

"Anywhere in mind?" Finn asked.

Poe grinned at him, "No idea. It'll be a little adventure."

The room was dark, and silent apart from the gentle breathing of both Finn and Poe. It was nice to have a moment of peace, Finn thought. He wished he could be alone with Poe forever, but he knew it would never happen. Not for a long time at least.

Finn felt like he had known Poe forever, even though it had been maybe five years at most.

Poe Dameron was a hero, an unbeatable pilot, a brave soldier, and a very good friend, as well as a lover with more love in his heart than Finn had ever thought possible. He was handsome and kind, and very, very popular. Finn didn't live up to half of those expectations.

Finn Dameron was also a hero, but a stormtrooper. A good soldier, but not one that had ever been trusted by his superiors. A coward caught running away multiple times, a fraud who never would've made it to Commander, let alone General without Poe's help. Force-sensitive, but with little to no training. He had even heard people claim that he was using Poe's name just to be known.

He had expressed these concerns to Poe before, who had reassured him that he had a pretty face and a good heart, and people were just jealous.

It wasn't like Poe had always been popular, though. Not long before the end of the war, Resistance officers had ganged up on him publicly, shaming him for his mistakes, and making it very clear that he deserved to die.

Poe never really talked about it, but Finn knew he had never forgotten. Poe still held himself accountable for Crait, the Raddus and Holdo, all of it.

Poe breathed out a loud sigh which brought Finn back to consciousness.

"I should get going soon." he said, hesitantly.

Oh, yeah. The negotiations. Finn felt a lump build up in his throat, and he suddenly felt ill. He ignored it- he could worry about that later. "Alright." Finn said, but he couldn't shake off the panicked feeling. "I'll see you later, yeah?"

Poe nodded. "I'll take a shuttle up there, give my ship a break. I'll find you when I'm back."

I hope so. Finn thought to himself, although he didn't know why.
