Chapter 2
I hear this constant beeping noise and it hurting my head. I open my eyes and I'm met with a white glare that hurts my eyes. I groan and then see someone I don't recognise standing in front of me. Where the hell am I and what am I doing here?
I take closer look at her and see she's wearing scrubs. She's a nurse. She then smiles weakly at me, "Good evening mam are you okay?" I look carefully at her, she's black and has braids. I look at her badge, 'Sister Shamilla Davids.' Don't know her.
I hear the beeping noise again and it's annoying me. I turn to look at the heart monitor machine and glare at it. I turned my head too quick and it starts paining. I reached for my head but the sister stops me.
"Mam please don't touch there. You have an injury there and your head is wrapped with bandages." She explains and I frown. I feel something on my left hand and see I've got an IV needle in me. I look at the IV line and see the bag and groan again. They've got me on a drip.
I look at her and try to talk but my throat is dry. She reaches for a plastic cup and fills it up with water and holds it for me to take a sip. Before I can speak she tells me she's going to call the doctor and tell him I'm awake.
I wait for about a minute and I see an Indian doctor come in.
"Good evening mam I see you're awake. My name is Doctor Kapoor. I'm your physician so if you need anything just call for Me." he explained and I nodded. What I found strange was hearing an Indian with a Southern Accent. I know I shouldn't stereotype but it was just weird.
He then continues to speak, "Mam I'm going to ask you a few questions if you don't mind. It's just a few basic questions." I nod and see him reach for his pen and look at his clip board.
"First name and last name?"
"Alicia Miller."
"How old are you Miss Miller?"
"27" I answer and he nods. He then asks me where do I live and what work do I do. He then asks me what the last date I remember was. I answer him and he gives a satisfied nod.
He then looks at me and speaks, "Miss Miller do you know what happened? Why you're here at the hospital?"
I shake my head, "no not really. What happened?"
He puts the clipboard down and starts explaining, "Well Miss Miller. You have a head injury, right above your right ear. You also have a minor back injury. The tests we've done show that there will not be any permanent injury except for some scaring above your ear. We did a CAT scan and found nothing alarming but it would be best if we tested you again to have extra confirmation."
I look at the doctor and realised he didn't tell me why I have these injuries. I then notice someone outside my room and see it's a cop.
I frown and look at the doctor, "Doctor, why's there a cop outside my room?"
He sighs heavily, "Don't be alarmed but he's here for your protection." If a cop is outside your hospital room for your protection that means your life is in danger.
"My protection? Doctor what happened to me? Did someone try to kill me?" I ask worried.
Doctor Kapoor tried to calm me down, "relax, you're fine now. You're safe."
"I don't understand. The last thing I remember is Roy and I driving in his truck." I then remember, "He had to take a sharp turn but I don't remember why." I sat up a bit too quick, "Doctor, where's Roy? Were we in an accident?"
Doctor Kapoor keeps a neutral face and starts to explain, "Yes there was a gentleman that came with you. He was shot and is in an induced Acoma. He's fine we just put him in Acoma for his body to heal itself on its own. When we're satisfied we'll bring out."
