Chapter 26

Walking into the diner. I smile when I see the familiar blonde haired woman sitting and drinking her coffee. She must've sensed me and cos she looked up. She wore an expression of excitement when she saw me.

Once I reached Carol Ann she gets up and gives me a hug. We pull away and she looks at my ring, "its gorgeous my brother went all out didn't he?" I nod and notice a few people frown when she said that. She also noticed and glared at the couple sitting to us.

I suggest we take our seats before she runs her mouth. She nods and when she's seated she shakes her head, "it's the 21st century folk gotta stop being racist. Why can't folk be like the folk in Rochdale?"

"You know how it is Carol Ann. Rochdale is ahead of its time. We even put shame to some places in the north cos our racial tolerance."

She nods and but smiles, "do new folk or visitors still get shocked when they enter Timmy's?"

I smile, "yeah the look on their faces never stop to amuse us."

On the outside Timmy's looks like your typical redneck pub but once folk go inside. They're real surprised to see black and white folk sitting and drinking together.

Carol Ann sighs, "Speaking about Timmy's. It looks like you've been laying it out last night haven't you?"

I nod, "yeah but I'm good. You really missed out on a crazy night."

She rolls her eyes and shows me her wedding ring, "I was having a crazy night with husband thank you very much."

Yeah right probably sitting on the couch watching TV. I shook my head and asked, "So how have you been?"

"I'm good can't complain. So how's your training?" she asks.

I roll my eyes, "it's bearable. We've got this new facilitator that's working on everyone's damn nerves. I don't know his name but I call him asshole."

She nods in understanding, "yeah, my manager at work is the same. There's always gotta be someone with something stuck up their ass." I laugh and nod. She then says, "enough of that let's order." she signals for the waiter and I look at the menu. When he comes we order coffee and breakfast.

Once the coffee is brought to us. I take a sip and sigh, "This is good coffee." I turn to look at the barrister and see they sell ground coffee. "I should buy some for your brother. He's always complaining about the coffee at work."

Carol Ann snorts, "what isn't he complaining about? I don't know how you cope with him."

I smile at that her cos what she's saying is true, "well he aint bad as Owen."

She was busy taking a sip of her coffee and almost choked. Her eyes widened and she put her cup down. She cleared her throat, "speaking about my brother Owen what's going on there with him and Mandy?"

I shrug, "I don't know. Shouldn't you know? He is your brother?" she glares at me and I sigh, "Well I guess he and Mandy are working on their marriage. If I think about it now. I don't really see Mandy out so much anymore or that's cos I'm so busy these days."

She tilts her head, "well we'll see at my pa's and Abigail wedding. So when's my brother and your engagement party and when will I get my invitation?"

"Obviously it's after your Pa's and Abigail's wedding." I answered and she shook her head.

"Damn I'ma gonna be traveling a lot to Rochdale over the next few months. It's my pappy's wedding, our school reunion and yours and my brother's engagement party..."
