Beep! Beep! That annoying noise.
I tried opening my eyes but it felt too heavy. I tried again but my vision was blurred and I saw a silhouette of someone.
I closed my eyes again took a deep breath and finally opened my eyes properly. My vision focused and I saw woman in front of me smiling.
"Hey Alicia?" She asked and I noticed she was wearing scrubs. I nodded at her and focused on my surroundings.
I rolled my eyes and groaned. Not again! Hospital. I don't wanna become furniture.
She reached for a cup and poured me water. As she approached I noticed it had a straw in it and I took a sip of the water.
She smiled weakly. "You not too fond of hospitals?"
I shook my head, "No this is my second time this year."
She was surprised, "we got the transfers of your medical files."
I nodded, "oh! Okay!" I then asked, "what day is it today?"
"It's Wednesday." She replied.
My eyes widened, "Wednesday?"
She nodded, "I'm going to call the doctor so that he can explain everything."
I nodded and she left. I watched her exit the door and noticed a cop standing outside. This is deja vu shit again.
It was at that moment I had only noticed the contraption next to me and I glared at it."
My poor arm was bandaged on the upperarm and my forearm had a cast on. It was in traction.
It wasn't long and the doctor came in.
He closed the and smiled, " Hi Miss Miller I'm Doctor Havanga. I see you finally woke up."
I nodded. He continued, "I know this will sound dumb but how you feeling?"
"I feel fine I guess but I'm annoyed with this contraption next to me." I replied.
He nodded with understanding. "Well I have to say be honest. You are real lucky you survived."
My heart sank when he said that but it was the truth. I had felt very weak before the helicopter found us.
I nodded and said, "I agree with you Doctor."
"You can be glad your friend wad with you. She had done a good job looking after you."
"I know. I owe her one." I replied.
He nodded and started explaining my injuries to me. I was shit twice. Once in my upper arm missing my humeras bone. It had caused a lot of muscle and nerve damage. Basically a chunk of flesh was damaged.
The bullet that penetrated my forearm factured both my radius and ulna bones. That is why I have a cast on and my arm is being supported with traction.
In a day or two traction won't needed anymore.
I lost a lot blood and needed a blood transfusion. I didn't get an infection but they felt since I had been in surgery. I needed rest and they kept me asleep so that my body could repair itself without any disturbance.
The nurses fussed over me. I ate, got cleaned I relieved myself.
They positioned me in a sitting position. They had to work carefully with that traction contraption. When they were done I was tired and fell asleep again.
I felt a really strange feeling and opened my eyes. Aunt Diane was staring at me with a worried expression it changed to relief.
"Oh gosh Alicia I'm so happy you're okay." She said.
