I'll Be Over There

I took out my sketchbook, and started drawing the tree limbs. The wind blew my hair around, and the birds quietly chirped. I had about 3 minutes of this beautiful peace, when I heard a crack below me.

'Oh, for fuck's sake!...' I thought. On a normal day, I would have ran out or kept my grounds. However curiosity got the best of me, so I sat as quietly as I could, just to hear, or see, this person.

"...Ally, I'll be home soon."

Silence.

"To see someone."

The person's voice was low and husky, like he- I decided that this person was a 'he'-didn't want to disturb any one or thing.

"NO! NOT...a girl, just a dude I met at class today... God, Ally, must you be this nosy?"

A slight pause.

"No, you will not be meeting this dude because you will scare the living shit out of her-I mean him. Him."

HA! This dude is such a klutz, and yet, I know a few. Or knew, whichever, whatever.

"Yea, yea, see you later."

The guy hung up, and started climbing higher from where he was. From my knowledge, he's on the other side of me, far away, not bothering me. But, I still moved closer to the trunk, and pressed my legs close to my body, just so there was no chance he was to find me.

Or less of a chance.

"No matter how small or quiet you get, I can always find you, Riles."

Really? WHY must the world be so CRUEL!

Fuck you, son of a bitch. I wrote in a corner of my sketch pad, ruining my beautiful drawing.

"My mother wouldn't... oh no, wait. She is one. My father is... different."

Hesitant, are we? And what do you mean about 'different'?

"Nothing. My life story must be nothing compared to yours."

You never know. But, I would really like to know who this Ally person is and why you called me a dude.

Miles stared at me then shook his head.

"You and Ally would be best friends, I swear. But I came to see why you sped out of the school without me. So disappointed."

At the end, he put his hand over his chest, just for dramatic effect.

I'm fine. Seeing the damn principal for the third time this week is not something I wanted to do. The punch, however, was not regretted. Neither was leaving you hanging.

"You broke her nose! You showed Violet that her damn words were getting to you! You showed her that your biggest weakness was your brother!"

I didn't expect that outburst from him. So, I didn't write anything. I sat hugging my legs tighter against my chest, looking away from him. I'm glad Miles was on the opposite side of me, so he didn't have to see my eyes getting glossy. Kieran really is my weakness. He was always there in my times of need. When our mum and dad were treating me differently when we were young, he always made me feel like I was still wanted.

"Hey, Rile? I didn't... Oh, shit. Are you crying? I meant to say that you should actually say something, even if you wrote it, instead of punching her. Or really anyone else."

He should keep his mouth shut. He really should.

I'll make sure to throw her a note, next time!

I tossed my sketchbook over to him and grabbed my bag. I didn't bother to get my book back, nor give him another glance, before I started to climb down the tree, leaving him behind.

A/N: Yo! Aren't I the worse at updating! Even in the summer? When I thought I'd do better? So, now, I'm just repeatedly updating, so I can be on point, and you won't notice. Yeahhhhh... Ok, the song reference this time is Here by Alessia Cara. I think it's a good song, especially for this chapter, what's your opinion?
