We finally in Hogsmeade! Only took 2 more chapters than I planned 😭

Happy reading!

-------------

Saturday morning arrives with everyone being woken up by Hermione's alarm. Not only that, but anyone who tries to go back to sleep after she shuts it off is promptly levitated out of bed and dropped on the floor. Talk about brutal.

Under the muggleborn's scrutiny, the group is eventually dressed and packed, ready for the trip to Hogsmeade.

Once they leave the Room, Harry leads everyone down to the kitchens for a quick breakfast. The house elves are kind enough to cook for the six students, so they're treated to a platter of both savory and sweet foods.

After everyone's had their fill, they finally make their way towards the castle's exit. The group makes easy conversation, and in what feels like no time at all, Hogsmeade is right there in front of them.

----------

Hermione is somehow not surprised when Harry and Zabini ditch the rest of them immediately. Just from the few of their interactions she's seen, it's obvious that the pair are off in their own little world most of the time.

Almost like-

"Damn!"

"We can't believe-"

"-that Harry ditched us-"

"-for a Slytherin!" The twins exclaim.

"Yeah... Almost like they're up to something..." Ernie joins in.

Hermione sighs. Stupid boys interrupting my train of thought. Anyway. The way Harry and Zabini act when they're together is almost like-

"Oi, Mione! Come look at this!"

Almost li-

She's interrupted for a third time by the twins strong-arming her into Zonko's.

Maybe this is a divine intervention and God or Magic or whoever doesn't want Hermione to finish that thought. Fine. She'll just come back to it later.

-------------

None of the four remaining friends see hide or tail of Harry and Blaise for several hours, during which they all stock up on prank items, school supplies, books, snacks, and anything else they think of. When the pair eventually regroups with them, it's at The Three Broomsticks.

"'Sup!" Is the only notice given before Harry and Blaise noisily join them at their table. The two order mugs of Butterbeer and join the group's conversation.

-----------

Zabini begs off to the bathroom and Hermione sees her chance to weasel some information out of Harry.

"So, Harry," she starts casually, "what did you and Zabini get up to while you were gone?"

That one little question sets Harry off on a detailed recount of every single thing the pair did in the last few hours, which is surprisingly quite a lot. They bought food and treats for Hedwig, potion ingredients, and books, took a long walk out to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, and even made time for lunch.

But wait, why did they go all the way out to the edge of the Forest? Unless it's because they were secretly having a d-

"What did I miss? Hopefully not anything too exciting." Zabini asks as he sits back down at the table, making that four times Hermione's train of thought has been interrupted. Maybe she should actually just drop the subject.

The rest of the group continue chatting, unknowing of Hermione's inner turmoil. Or at least she thinks nobody knows until Zabini asks to speak with her privately.

Now I've done it. I really should've stopped thinking about it, and this is a higher power bringing karma upon me for my insolence.

The pair leave The Three Broomsticks and Hermione is led to an empty area, where Zabini erects a privacy ward.

"Harry's told me about you." He states, staring at the witch as if gauging her reaction.

"What about me, exactly?"

"That you don't mind your own business. And that you won't drop something until you have an answer." The Slytherin raises an eyebrow, daring Hermione to disagree.

She sighs. "You're right."

"Well, that then begs the question of what it is you're trying to figure out." Zabini stares at her expectantly.

Hermione spills everything. Her theory, the potential evidence, all of it. By the end of her rambling explanation, she's feeling quite embarrassed.

But then Zabini starts laughing. Hermione's not sure whether she should be more embarrassed than before or relieved that the Slytherin isn't upset at her.

Eventually, he calms down enough to address Hermione and her "theory".

"We're not dating." He says simply, dispelling the privacy ward and making his way back to The Three Broomsticks.

---------------

As soon as Blaise sets foot back in the castle, he's dragged off by Draco and the others.

"Where the bloody hell have you been!?" The blond hisses when they're back in the Slytherin dorms. Theo and Pansy stare expectantly.

"I was in Hogsmeade." Blaise says plainly.

"Like hell you were!" Pansy butts in. "We didn't see you once while we were there!" She crosses her arms with an angry expression.

"Not my problem or your business." Blaise is about to leave when Draco grabs him.

"Don't tell me... were you with Potter," He accuses, "and his mudblood friends?"

"Macmillan was there." He responds snarkily.

"Oh, so it was mudbloods and a Hufflepuff. What an improvement!"

"Are you done?" Blaise snaps, yanking his arm out of Draco's grip. The blond continues to shout at him, making it abundantly clear that he isn't.

Blaise gets the feeling that he'll blow up at his friends if he stays any longer. So he makes his way toward the dorm's exit, hoping to have a few hours alone to cool off.

"Oh, so now you're running away, Blaise? Coward." He explodes.
