It was a beautiful Fall day, the trees and flowers were still in bloom and you could smell a hint of honeysuckle in the air.
Hannah and Sarah were the happiest they had ever been. They had recently gotten married and Sarah's grandmother had left them her old Victorian era home right in the heart of Charleston, South Carolina.
Hannah and Sarah had met in college and it was literally love at first sight. They had experienced some bigotry and prejudice but didn't let that drive them apart.
Hannah worked as a computer programmer and Sarah as a Hotel manager. The stars had definitely aligned when Sarah was given the opportunity to manage the Hilton Inn, in the historic district of Charleston. Hannah had the luxury of working remotely, so she could work from wherever as long as she had a Wi-Fi signal.
Sarah was extremely excited getting to move back to her childhood home of Charleston. Hannah was a bit leery, worried about facing more prejudice, but Sarah was so excited that she didn't want to ruin the opportunity for her.
Sarah's grandmother had moved in with her sister, leaving a beautiful Victorian home fully furnished for the two of them. It needed a bit of work but would be a great start.
They quickly got settled in and got into a daily routine. Hannah noticed that every night Sarah locked every set of storm shutters on both the upper and lower floors but only on the windows facing the street.
