Jisung and I are in the taxi, on our way to my dorm. I apologized a thousand times for ruining our date and that he shouldn't have to come, but he was very understanding about the situation. He knows something's up with me and my parents, so he knows this isn't something normal to happen.
We reach the dorms and Jisung puts on his disquise while paying the driver, thanking him. We both get out the car and get in the building, moving to the elevator.
We reach the dorm and I storm in. I take off my coat and shoes in a hurry and walk to the living room, getting frozen in place at the sight.
My mom and dad, both in the living room, on the couch. Akari walks up to me, she looks quite nervous. "I don't know what they want, but they're scary," she whispers to me. She then notices Jisung's presence and smiles at him.
The three of us walk further into the room and I walk to my parents, my anger showing extremely well. I look at them and fold my arms over each other. "What do you want?" I say in a stern voice, in English.
It's been a long time since I've seen my parents. I wish it would've stayed that way. They also don't look very pleased to say the least.
"We want you to come back to New York with us," my dad speaks back in English, since none of my parents know Korean. "The marriage is still on. You have to marry him for our company's sake."
I sigh loudly and grow even more annoyed. "I thought you just wanted to be rid of me. But I guess that isn't it. The only thing you care about is your business, not me. I'm highly conviced you only got a child for taking over your business once you can't anymore."
Akari and Jisung take this as a sign to leave the room. They walk to the kitchen, so they'll still be close by when I need them.
My mom looks around the room and looks disgusted. "How can you functionate in such a small place? And don't you have servents? You might need it with this mess you girls made."
"I don't need anything," I throw back. "I'm happy without the both of you. The people I live with actually care for me. I didn't even know how that felt. Can't you see you failed my life and I build it back up again?"
My mom shakes her head, disappointed. "I knew you wouldn't work with us. I knew you would turn out to be a disappointer to our family."
I step closer to them, slowly. I lower my head to look them better in the eyes, since they're still seated on the couch. "And whose child am I? And whose gens do I have? Exactly, yours. So if I'm disappointing you, it's at least half your fault."
My dad scoffs and gets up, walking up to me. He grabs me by the collar of my shirt and grabs my chin with his other hand, making me look in his eyes. "You're coming back with us, whether you like it or not. You can say goodbye to the people you think support you."
The worst part is, I still believe him when he says that. I still believe everyone who talks nicely to me is just because they feel like they need to. That's my problem. Trust issues. And guess where I got these?
My parents.
"That's enough," I hear Akari's voice say out. I look over my dad's shoulder, seeing Akari and Jisung storm in, both with rage in their eyes. I've never seen both of them so volatile in my life.
My mom gets up from the couch as well and looks at them. "You don't know anything about our situation, so please stay out of it."
Akari laughs at that. "That's funny, because Nabi's business is my business. She hates you, I hate you. It's that easy. So please excuse me when I do this."
A slap.
Akari actually slapped my mother. My mouth falls open out of shock. I see my mom grab her cheek where Akari hit her and looks at the girl, mad. "What did you just do?"
"I hoped to slap some sense into you, but I guess it can't be helped anymore." She winks at my mom and steps away from her, folding her arms. She looks proud at what she did.
Jisung walks up to me and my dad. He looks up to my dad, looking him into his eyes. My dad is much taller than him, but he doesn't seem scared. "Let go of her," he says with the most stern voice I've ever heard.
My dad laughs at him. "And who might you be, young man?"
Jisung doesn't take in. "Let go of her," he warns him again, but my dad, being the stubborn man he is, doesn't let go of me, he only makes his hold tighter. "I don't listen to people below me."
And that's where I've had it. higher my knee inbetween my dad's legs and he crouches down in pain. I then slap his cheek, making him hiss. "You think you're above everyone, but the truth is, your business is falling apart. I am your only hope. You're a miserable man. But I'm not going to help you, find a solution yourself. Now get out of my home."
Both my mom and dad don't make a move. My mom stares deadly at Akari, but she only raises her eyebrows at her, waiting for some action. My dad doesn't move a single muscle as well.
"What are you waiting for?" I yell and my parents flinch at my voice. My dad stands up straight and looks at me. "I hope you realize you're nothing without us."
My dad walks away and takes my mom with him to the door. I walk after them. "Wait." They turn around to me. "I'm in a K-pop girlgroup with millions of fans, and I'm sure I have more on my bank account than you both have at the moment. I hope you realize that I can be more than just a prey for your company."
I open the door for them, waiting for them to walk out. My dad sighs and shakes his head, walking out. My mom looks at me, almost sad. "Take care of yourself." And she walks after my dad, out the dorm. I slam the door shut behind her.
I sigh deeply and fall to the ground, crying. Jisung runs up to me and takes me in his arms, comforting me in his touch.
