A bright light hits my face when I start to get conscious again and I squint my eyes. When they're adjusted to the light, I allow myself to look around to see where I've landed.
I'm laying in a hospital bed with an IV attached to my arm and my wrist wrapped in bandages. I don't dare to move my arm, since I know that would hurt a lot.
Then, I see Akari sit on the chair next to the bed, holding my other hand. She has her head down and I hear her crying. Hyunjin stands next to her and comforts her by rubbing her back. He sees me being awake and smiles at me, nudging Akari in the proces. "Guess who's up."
The girl lifts her head to look at me and a huge sigh of relief escapes her mouth while hugging me. "I was so scared to loose you. I came as soon as Gaeun called me."
I look around the room and see that Akari and Hyunjin are the only ones present. "Where is she, actually? And how is Yejun?"
"Yejun is fine, he only has some bruises," Akari explains while moving off of me. "Gaeun is talking to some people on the phone about the incident. The other members are on their way."
"The police arrested your dad while you were unconscious," Hyunjin fills me in and I sigh in relief. "Thank god, he's finally where he belongs."
Hyunjin chuckles and sits down on the edge of the bed. "Thank Gaeun for filming it all for proof."
Then, I think about Jisung. He surely is concerned. I don't know how he took my dad sending him to voicemail, but I hope he doesn't think I don't like him anymore or anything.
"Does Jisung know already?" The two hear my concern in my voice and Akari rubs my hand. "He's willing to kill him since he heard the news. He's helping Gaeun to find more proof of your dad mistreating you at the moment."
I nod and look up at the ceiling. Akari breaths deeply and squeezes my hand. "But we had a deal that if one of us tells the other about their family problems, the other does as well. And since I know about yours, I want to tell you about mine."
Hyunjin takes this as a sign for him to leave the two of us. He gives me one final smile before leaving the hospital room.
Akari sits up straight and looks at me while I look back at her. "Don't interrupt me while I'm talking, I want to rip off the bandaid and say it as fast as possible."
I nod reassuring at her. "As long as you're not going to rap it all and I can still follow you." Akari puts her thumb up and breaths in and out.
"My parents mistreated me and my brother badly, especially me, since I am a girl and they are extremely sexist. One day, my parents took me to some abandoned building and wanted to leave me there, while I was only 10. But the police was there soon enough and arrested them. From that moment, I had to live with my brother, but he turned out to follow my parents' path and got arrested for raping minors not long after. I was brought to an adopting center, but of course, no one wanted a traumatized child. One day I found out there were auditions to become a K-pop idol, so I took my chance."
My mouth had fallen open and I have no idea what to say, so I hug her tight. "Although you may feel like everyone wants to abandon you, since I have that too, it's not true. I love you and I know the other members do as well."
Akari allows her tears to drop out of her eyes and hugs me tighter. "I love you too."
