Flashback~
As the rain pattered against the leaky roof of our tiny one-room apartment, I trudged up the stairs, my clothes soaked through and my spirits dampened by the dreary weather. But as I pushed open the door and stepped inside, all thoughts of the rain faded away in an instant.
There, sitting at our makeshift kitchen table, was Vegas, a warm smile lighting up his face as he greeted me with a kiss. "Hey, babe," he said, his voice filled with genuine affection. "What's got you looking so cheerful?"
I couldn't help but grin, my dimples on full display as I reached into my pocket and pulled out a small, crumpled paper bag. "I brought something for you," I said, holding it out for him to see.
Vegas's brow furrowed in confusion as he took the bag from my hand and peered inside. "What is it?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.
I couldn't contain my excitement as I watched him pull out the contents of the bag – a few shiny apples and a loaf of bread, all carefully wrapped in brown paper. "I know we've been struggling to make ends meet lately," I explained, "so I thought I'd treat us to something special."
Vegas's eyes widened in surprise, his lips parting in a mixture of gratitude and disbelief. "You didn't have to do that, Pete," he said, his voice soft with emotion. "But thank you. This means a lot to me."
I couldn't help but feel a swell of pride in my chest as I watched Vegas's face light up with joy. In that moment, surrounded by the simple pleasures of life – the warmth of our tiny apartment, the sound of the rain outside, and the love that bound us together – I knew that no matter how tough things got, as long as we had each other, we could weather any storm.

But Pete just smiled and reached into his backpack, pulling out a folded piece of paper. "I have something else for you too," he said, his eyes shining with excitement.
Raising an eyebrow, I unfolded the paper to find it was an admission form for a coaching center, with only my signature missing. "Pete, what's all this?" I asked, my mind racing with questions.
Before I could voice my concerns, Pete smiled and explained. "Now you can study properly," he said, conviction lacing his voice. "After university, you should go to coaching. You have so much potential, Vegas. I'm sure you'll excel if you're given the opportunity to study."
My expression remained stoic as I stared at the form in my hands. "But Pete, the fees for this place..." I began, trailing off as I struggled to find the right words.
But Pete cut me off before I could continue, determination gleaming in his eyes. "Don't say anything," he insisted. "I want you to have a happy and comfortable future."
I opened my mouth to protest, but Pete held up a hand to silence me. "First, hear me out," he said, his voice soft but firm. "My part-time jobs will cover the fees. I'll work harder to make sure we can afford it."
My frown deepened as I processed Pete's words. "Part-time jobs?" I repeated, disbelief coloring my tone. "You're already working multiple jobs?"
Pete nodded slowly, his gaze unwavering. "I'll manage," he said simply.
A surge of emotion welled up inside me, a mixture of gratitude and guilt. "Pete, you don't have to do this," I insisted, my voice thick with emotion. "I don't want to be a burden to you. You've already done so much for me by letting me stay at your house and helping me with my studies."
But before I could say anything else, Pete leaned in and pressed a quick peck on my lips, cutting off my protests. "It's settled then," he said, his voice soft but determined. "We'll make it work together.
I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt tugging at my heartstrings. "Pete, you shouldn't do this," I urged, my voice tinged with worry. "I don't want you to get exhausted because of me. I don't want to be your burden."
But Pete's response was unwavering, his conviction shining through in every word. With a dismissive sound, he clicked his tongue and shook his head. "You will never be my burden, Vegas," he declared firmly, his gaze locking with mine in a silent vow of unwavering support.
"Oh, my dear Vegas," he teased, "stop worrying. You can pay me back in the future when you become that sexy, hot businessman like from the dramas."
His words brought a smile to my face, easing the tension that had settled between us. "Is that a promise?" I asked, raising an eyebrow in mock skepticism.
Pete grinned, his dimples deepening as he nodded. "You bet it is," he replied, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Just don't forget to thank me when you're rolling in money."
I couldn't help but laugh at his audacity, feeling a warmth spread through my chest at the thought of a future where we could both thrive together. "Deal," I said, reaching out to ruffle his hair affectionately. "But only if you promise to take care of yourself too."
Pete's smile softened, and he reached up to capture my hand in his, squeezing it gently. "Deal," he echoed, his voice sincere. "We'll take care of each other, Vegas. That's what partners do, right?"
As I gazed into Pete's eyes, a surge of warmth flooded my chest, chasing away the doubts and fears that had plagued me moments before. "Yes, that's what partners will do," I affirmed, my voice steady with conviction. "And I will make sure you have the most beautiful future."
Pete's smile widened, his eyes alight with trust and affection as he leaned in closer. Without a word, our lips met in a tender kiss, a silent vow passing between us to weather whatever storms lay ahead, hand in hand.
In that fleeting moment, I knew that no matter what challenges awaited us, as long as we faced them together, we could overcome anything. And as we melted into each other's embrace, the world around us faded away, leaving only the promise of a brighter tomorrow in its wake.
