As Macau and Jin departed, leaving me alone once again, a sense of unease settled over me like a heavy shroud. I glanced around the room, searching for any sign of Vegas, but he was nowhere to be found. Despite my growing apprehension, I brushed aside my concerns and resolved to focus on finding a way out of this place.

Just as I began to formulate a plan, a loud gunshot shattered the silence, sending shockwaves of fear coursing through my veins. I instinctively covered my ears, the sound reverberating in my mind like a deafening cacophony. My heart raced with adrenaline as I struggled to process what had just happened.

As I stood there, panic coursing through my veins, someone grabbed me roughly and pulled me away from the chaos. The room they took me to was dark and unfamiliar, and my heart pounded with fear as I tried to make sense of what was happening.

"Vegas, what's going on?" I demanded, my voice trembling with panic.

Vegas's response was cryptic, his words only adding to my confusion. "I didn't mean to drag you into all this, Pete," he said, his tone filled with regret.

I struggled to comprehend his words, my mind racing with a million questions. What did he mean by "all this"? And why had he brought me here?

Before I could voice my concerns, Vegas pressed something into my hand - a knife. My eyes widened in shock as I stared at the weapon, my mind reeling with the implications of what he was asking me to do.

"Vegas, what are you doing?"

Vegas's response was cryptic, only adding to Pete's growing unease. "Stay here until I come back. If someone breaks in, you know what to do."

Pete's heart raced as he grabbed Vegas's arm, desperation evident in his voice. "Vegas, are you by chance... *hesitates* in some illegal business?"

I couldn't shake the feeling of dread that washed over me as I searched Vegas's face for any hint of reassurance. But his expression remained unreadable, a silent testament to the secrets he kept hidden beneath the surface.

Without a word, Vegas pulled away from my grasp, leaving me alone in the dark room with my racing thoughts and a sense of foreboding that refused to dissipate.
