Flashback
As Vegas packed his bag, Ben's presence brought a sense of comfort amidst the chaotic university life. Despite their differences in social status, Ben never judged Vegas for his humble background. Vegas appreciated Ben's friendship, the one constant in his otherwise turbulent life.
"Hmm, going on a date with your boyfriend? When I cann meet him?" Ben remarked, raising an eyebrow as he glanced at Vegas.
Vegas smiled, a faint blush coloring his cheeks. He didn't deny Ben's assumption but instead opted for a cryptic reply. "Soon," he said, leaving the details shrouded in mystery.
As Vegas returned home to an unusual silence, he couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled over him. Normally, Pete's presence filled the space with activity, whether it was the sound of music playing or the clattering of pots and pans in the kitchen. But tonight, there was an eerie stillness that hung in the air, unsettling Vegas.
Navigating through the darkness, Vegas felt a sense of foreboding as he stepped further into the dimly lit house. The absence of electricity only added to the surreal atmosphere, casting long shadows that danced along the walls.
His heart began to race, each beat echoing loudly in the quiet surroundings. Something wasn't right, and Vegas's instincts told him to proceed with caution. With every step he took, he braced himself for the unknown, prepared for whatever awaited him in the depths of the silent house.
As Vegas swung the door open, his heart plummeted at the sight before him. Pete lay curled up on the floor, clutching a book to his chest, his body trembling with sobs. Without a moment's hesitation, Vegas rushed to Pete's side, gathering him into his arms with a mixture of worry and tenderness.
"Pete, what happened?" Vegas's voice trembled with concern as he held Pete close, his own heart aching at the sight of Pete's tear-stained eyes.
Unable to find the words to express his distress, Pete simply buried his face in Vegas's chest, his grip tightening as he sought solace in Vegas's embrace. Vegas murmured soothing words, his hand gently stroking Pete's back in a silent promise of comfort and support.
As Pete's sobs gradually subsided, he found the strength to speak, his voice choked with emotion. "Vegas, my parents..." He trailed off, unable to continue, tears streaming down his face anew.
Vegas's heart clenched in his chest as he watched Pete's anguish unfold. "What happened, Pete?" he asked gently, his voice filled with concern and dread.
"My parents... they're gone," Pete finally managed to choke out between sobs, his words barely audible amidst his grief.
Vegas felt his breath catch in his throat, his mind reeling at the devastating news. "I'm so sorry, Pete," he whispered, pulling Pete closer in a comforting embrace, their shared sorrow binding them together in that moment of raw vulnerability.
Vegas struggled to comprehend the sudden and tragic turn of events. Just that very morning, he and Pete had spoken excitedly about visiting Pete's parents in their village. The news of their passing felt like a cruel twist of fate, shattering their plans and leaving them both reeling in disbelief. Vegas felt a surge of guilt wash over him, wishing he could have somehow prevented this tragedy and spared Pete from such heartache.
As Vegas gently stroked Pete's head, his thoughts swirled with a mixture of tenderness and turmoil. Seeing Pete in pain tore at his heartstrings, igniting a fierce desire to shield him from any further harm. Pete's peaceful slumber provided a brief respite from the chaos surrounding them, but Vegas knew they were far from safe. He vowed silently to himself to be Pete's protector, to ease his burdens and navigate the treacherous path ahead, no matter the obstacles they faced. With a tender gaze, Vegas whispered words of comfort, silently promising to stand by Pete's side through it all.
The ringing of Vegas's phone shattered the fragile peace of the moment. Reluctantly, he lifted the phone to silence it, not wanting to disturb Pete's much-needed rest. But as he heard the voice on the other end, a chill ran down his spine, and his blood turned to ice.
"I told you, Vegas. Come back home, or you will face consequences. This was just a demo. Next will be that bitch."As Vegas listened to the chilling words on the other end of the line, his heart sank. The threat pierced through him, igniting a flurry of emotions—fear, anger, and desperation. He glanced at Pete, sleeping peacefully, unaware of the danger lurking in the shadows. Vegas clenched his jaw, his hands trembling with rage and uncertainty. He knew he had to protect Pete at all costs, but he also couldn't ignore the ominous warning. With a heavy heart, he vowed to keep Pete safe, no matter what it took, even if it meant confronting his own demons and facing the dark forces that threatened to tear them apart.

"I didn't know you would come this soon. If I knew earlier, I would have done something to that bitch sooner," Vegas seethed, his grip tightening on the collar of the man before him."Keep Pete out of this," he warned through gritted teeth.
The man scoffed. "Is this how you're going to treat your own father for a random bitch? How good is he in bed for you to act like this?"
"SHUT UP!" Vegas screamed, his voice echoing with frustration and fury, his eyes burning with a mixture of rage and pain.
"Leave Pete out of it. He is innocent. You should be grateful your son, who you never cared about, is still alive thanks to him. He himself didn't have anything. He took me under his care, paid for my studies while struggling himself. His parents treated me with love which you never gave me," Vegas's voice trembled with emotion as he spoke.
"And you took them away from him, away from me. How cruel can you be to your own son?" Vegas's words echoed in the tense air, filled with years of buried resentment and hurt.
His father's callous response pierced through Vegas like a knife. "You already know, Vegas. You were born into a life where you can't have normal things, especially love. It was your own stupidity to leave this life and fall in love with some broke bitch. Now, you are paying for your actions. You still have time to come back here so that bitch can live. The choice is yours." His father's words, delivered with a twisted smile, left Vegas feeling numb, his heart heavy with the weight of his past and the burden of his choices.
Vegas carried the heavy burden of knowing that Pete would likely never forgive him once he discovered the truth about his father's involvement in his parents' death. The thought of Pete's hatred weighed heavily on Vegas's heart, but he believed it was a necessary consequence of his actions. He couldn't bear to see Pete suffer any more than he already had, and if that meant sacrificing his own happiness and enduring Pete's resentment, then so be it. Vegas could only hope that Pete would find it in his heart to understand one day, even if forgiveness seemed impossible in the midst of such betrayal.
Leaving Pete behind was one of the hardest decisions Vegas had ever made. As he walked away from their home, leaving behind the life they had built together, he couldn't shake the feeling of guilt gnawing at him. He hoped that by disappearing without a word, Pete would come to hate him, sparing him the pain of watching Pete suffer because of him. It was a painful sacrifice, but Vegas believed it was the only way to protect Pete from the dangers that lurked in his past. So, with a heavy heart and tear-streaked eyes, Vegas left Pete behind, carrying the weight of his love and regret with him as he disappeared into the night.
