Everleigh
"He is literally a hundred shades of red, dude." Tommy said as I sat across from him.
We're currently in GSMH's cafeteria, the place is buzzing with professionals in scrubs, like how Tom's wearing his blue scrubs under his white coat. It was so opposed to my dark jeans and blouse. I think this would be the best place to faint. "Like you have to leave him right now. I can call your Pilot if you want."
I buried my face in my palms as my elbows were placed on the table in front of me. I am currently on my lunch break and I decided to meet with Tom, because if I don't confide in anyone I trust, I will go crazy. I managed to sneak out of the campus without him noticing because he is busy with drills dahil mamayang gabi na ang first official game nila. It will be held at Saigon University's campus field. I also left my phone in my office, so he would think I am still in the school premises because he gets notifications when I leave the school or my house.
"You need to leave or get a restraining order for him. Period."
"You know what I need?" I massaged my temples for a moment. "Shots of tequila."
He took a sip of his coffee and gave me a look. He knew that I didn't really wanna talk about him nor the plans of leaving. We both know I'm not going to do it just yet.
"Leigh, I am serious. What the fúck is happening, dude?" Seryoso niyang sabi. "You are quite literally the smartest and one of the most accomplished women I know. You have four degrees under your belt, all done in Ivy League institutions, and here you are being a masochist over a boy with no car, no degree, and causing nothing but a headache."
I looked away for a moment. This is what I love about Tom, he does not play when it's time for his friends to face the truth. He's the willing one who will make you see things for what they are.
"I mean I get it, he is visually pleasing, but he blatantly told you that he wanted you pregnant on purpose so he can do his evil plans of revenge."
"...h-he's just hurt, so he refuses to acknowledge the truth."
He looked at me like there was a díck drawn on my forehead.
"Is the dîck that good?"
"Tom."
He sighed and reached for my hands on the table for a moment.
"When are you gonna stop defending this boy? Yes, I get that he's nineteen but he. knows. what. he's. doing." He even clapped his hand to prove his point. "You need to stop giving your compassion and kindness to the wrong people."
I bit my lower lip.
"Okay. The semester will be over soon, once it's done, I'll go back to Malibu." I replied. "Atleast let me put in my resume that I taught a semester in an international school." Sagot ko pa.
"Girl, UCLA will accept you even if you print your resume on a tissue paper. You are an Alumni and they know your excellence."
I ran my fingers through my loose hair for a moment.
"I cannot just drop everything. Not abruptly. I promise I will leave after this semester." There was a finality in my tone.
"Okay." He said that anyway even if he knows that I am making excuses.
"You can start by not giving him your kitty, okay?"
"O..kay..."
"Everleigh Palma." He said my full government name.
"Yes. Okay. I heard."
He sighed.
"So ano tara, shot mamaya sa Kanto?"
