Carmilla P.O.V

I rub my eyes, desperate to keep them open so I can keep my eyes on the laptop in front of me. The day of our date is fast approaching and I have absolutely no idea where to take her. I want to impress her, make her feel special, yet anything that comes to mind seems to be something she'll shout at me for. My eyes dance between tabs on my laptop, picking possible options. Ballroom dancing? No, I can't dance, I will just embarrass myself. I inhale the fumes from my cigarette harshly, googling creative date ideas. I scan through all different options, taking note of the ones that seem to be amusing for me. My mind ponders the last few options. Clubbing, bowling, arcade.. "Ugh, why is this so hard!?" I groan, sliding my finger across the mouse in a hurry. My eyes fall on the last idea, pausing for a moment to determine if doing that will please her. Fuck it, it's go big or go home.

"Marie!" I call out as I balance the suit options in front of the mirror. I can hear a quick shuffling before she opens the door, head lowered as she enters.

"Yes madam" she answers meekly.

"What looks better?" I ask the maid standing at the entrance of the door, her hands filled with cleaning supplies as she stares at me like a lost deer, surprised by my sudden conversation.

"I- both look great madam" she stammers out before lowering her head back down. I roll my eyes at her quick response, it's times like these that make me miss Genevieve and her critiques, along with Coles mumbles of approval or disapproval.

"Look at it, properly. This is an important choice, "I assert, holding up a white suit in one hand and a gray woven pattern suit in the other. Her eyes raise once again, this time daring to take a little step forward to analyze them.

"The white one is nice but the gray one is more unique, better for a date" she speaks up, her expression pulled back, as if she's expecting some sort of repercussion for her specific comment. I grin lightly at her critique, pondering on her last words in the exchange.

"Thank you, Marie" I thanked softly before turning around to put the vest on as I walked over to the bed to collect the trousers. "How did you know I was going on a date, Marie?" I ponder as I pull my trousers up, zipping it up swiftly before cinching it with my belt.

I can see her shuffling nervously from my periphery, "I didn't madam, I just assumed since you look very formal" she blurts out, her eyes glued to the floor. I round to face her as I latch the gun holster to my belt, picking up the pistol laying on my bed before walking over to her. "I'm sorry for assuming madam" she apologizes rapidly.

"How old are you?" I question, keeping the gun in my hand as I lift her chin slightly to look at her young face with my other.

"I'm 18 years old, madam" she responds, her hazel eyes wide as her brows furrowed in fear.

"I know you're still young, but it's rude to talk to your superiors with your head facing the floor" I chided as she dropped the cloth in her hands, my eyes following the cloth on the floor and then lifting my eyes to meet hers once more. "Don't be so nervous, I'm not going to hurt you" I cooed at her state, although the rush of her dreadful face made me reconsider my promise.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to disrespect you" she apologized once more, yet her eyes were begging me to let go of her face so she was spared. "It won't happen again" she finishes as a little tear spills down her cheek.

I wipe the tear away with my thumb before letting go of my grip on her chin as I watch her keep her head frozen in place. "Pick your cloth up and get back to what you were doing" I command before placing the gun in its holster, clicking it in place as she bends down quickly to pick up her fallen cloth. With a quick sorry and a little bow, she leaves the room, leaving me to finish getting dressed in silence.
