My legs take over, all I can see is his face and hers mashed together in a mixture of rage and grief. The sounds of a pleading secretary and shouts of the security guard echo in the back of my mind as I stomp to the elevator, each step faster than the previous. How could I be so naive? Why did I think she changed? I breath through my nose harshly, each breath more rapid than the previous as the lift doors close just before they get a chance to grab me and take me back outside, forever banning me from the building. The once heartbroken tears now feel vengeful and bitter, the loss of him only heightened my reality of losing Carmilla as well, knowing I will have to say goodbye after doing this. I can never forgive her, no matter how much it will hurt, she needs to pay the price.
Once the doors open, I am greeted with a confused secretary staring back at me through her little lobby desk, her glasses resting on the bridge of her nose. For fucks sake. "Carmilla, where is her office?" I blurt out, her features blurred as my eyes try to focus on her young face.
"Carmilla? Madam you can't be up here. We don't have a Carmilla here" she states, her face becoming clearer to me as she explained.
"Lambert! Miss- Madam, I don't know, Lambert" I shout, causing the young woman to flinch slightly as she instinctively leans her head back. "Tell me where she is or I will walk through every one of these rooms until I find her" I warn, my voice turning hoarse from the pain in my throat.
"Oh, Madam Lambert is in a meeting right now, you're going to have to wait" she explained in an apologetic tone.
I let out an exasperated groan as I shifted my attention to the hallway in front of me, brown doors encasing the narrow halls. Without giving it a moment's thought, I speed off and I open the first one, then the second, and the third. No Carmilla. Where the fuck are you?
I reach the last room, swinging the door open harshly as it bashes against the glass behind it, a dozen men's heads fling to face me before my eyes land on Carmilla at the head of the long corporate table. Her eyes pan to mine, standing up once she sees me rapidly approaching. "Everyone, out" she demands, her voice stern yet all I can see is her cocky yet concerned expression plastered across her face. By the time I reach her, the doors bang shut behind me, leaving me to do that I came here to do. "What happened? Why are you all blood-"
Not expecting my sudden attack, I reach my hands out to her chest before I push her back against the wall behind her, gripping onto her shirt. "Why would you do this!?" I shout out, my hand tightening as hard as I can as she looked down at me in complete bewilderment. "How could you?!" I exclaim, my voice cracking at the lump in my throat. She remains still for a moment, scanning me. "Tell me! Why would you do that to me? To Adeline?!" I persist, my knuckles going white before she pushes back, backing me up to the table.
3rd person P.O.V
Pinning Jane completely down on the table, her back laid against the hard wood as she kicks and flails out of Carmilla's grip, Carmilla rests her forearm on Jane's chest to keep her in place. "Will you stop attacking me and tell me what I've done wrong?!" she shouts, her mind trying to comprehend what has happened.
Panting heavily, Jane groans under her tight grip, the vein in her forehead bulging. "You did this, dont lie to me!" Jane screeches, her voice echoing against the hollow walls.
"Did what?" Carmilla argues, her patience running low as she grabs Jane's leg to stop her from kicking her in the stomach.
"George! You killed him!" Jane cries out, her tears sliding down shamelessly onto the table.
Carmilla swallows down in shock as she freezes into place. "What? George is dead?" she asks softly, genuinely taken aback by the revelation, her mind twisting and cogging in confusion.
