Her eyes staring at the ceiling, Carmilla traces loops over Jane's lower back as she lays over her chest, their hearts beating in unison as they take in the blissful after fatigue. "I don't want you to go," Jane mumbles, her cheeks pressed against the curve of Carmilla's cleavage.
"I know baby, but I dont think George would appreciate me laying on his side of the bed" Carmilla explains softly, her free hand stroking Jane's hair gently. The idea of laying here till the end of time was just as appealing to Carmilla as it was to Jane, the challenges of real life disappearing into thin air the moment Carmilla faces Jane.
Jane shifts lightly, caving her head to glance at Carmilla's legs, embarrassed by the words replaying in her mind, urging to tell Carmilla. "I lied to you, about George" she pauses to wage a reaction but Carmilla remains stock still, waiting for her to elaborate before reacting to her confession. "He isn't on a fishing trip, he's staying at his moms house. Were on the verge of divorce after everything that's happened '' Jane admits, her voice low and sparse, uncomfortable by the sleek silence that pursued.
Carmilla's chest rises and falls harshly, the news of Jane finally being free for her to claim her as her own was sending dopamine all across her body, exhilaration even. Composing herself to not look too happy, Carmilla ponders for a moment before speaking up. "I'm sorry, that's shit" she whispers, sympathetic to the oncoming headaches of divorce.
Jane lifts her head to face Carmilla, bewildered by her reaction. "You're not happy about it?" Jane inquires, her features wrinkled in confusion.
Carmilla chuckles lightly, "of course I'm happy about it, but I'm not going to rub it in your face" Carmilla explains, her teeth biting a wide grin as Jane raises to rest her body on Carmilla's waist, her thighs pressed against Carmilla's thigh. "But I know what it's like ending a relationship with someone you've built so much with," she continues, her tone lowering into a vulnerable admission.
"You've had marriage material partners before?" Jane questions, intrigued by the new information.
"Yeah, there was this girl, she was around the same age as me. She was the exact opposite of you, dark curly hair, she was darker than you, her skin would glow under the sun like I've never seen before. She was fiery, but in a way where you couldn't tell her what to do, how to do it, she was a little trouble maker and 20 year old me was crazy for her" Carmilla chuckles, reminiscing the woman she once called her true love, completely oblivious to the fire rising in Janes chest. "Young me thought, helping her rob cars and evading the police every weekend was love, that we were Bonnie and Clyde, and we were the perfect match, until I realized I was just a good escape plan" Carmilla finishes, her lips piercing as she glances at Jane.
Jane tries to gauge Carmilla's expression, not knowing whether to hug her or slap her for speaking about her past love like this. "What do you mean by her escape plan?" Jane interrogated, needing to know every detail for some odd reason.
"She knew who I was, the money I had, the connections my parents had with the police and she took advantage of it. Who wouldn't when one call can get them off anything?" Carmilla sighs, the memories of her love seeming so distant yet the heartbreak was always something that laid deep in her gut, reminding her every now and again.
Jane purses her lips sympathetically, her fingers tracing Carmilla's arm as she speaks. "Why did you break up?" Jane asks carefully, not wanting to tread on uneven waters. Carmilla's eyes dart to Jane and then return to the ceiling, unsure if she should tell her what happened.
After a brief moment of silence, Carmilla speaks up. "I killed her" she admits before pinning her eyes back to Jane, this time keeping them focused on hers. "One night, we argued and she left early night, only to call me at 2 in the morning to help bail her out but I wasn't about to spend thousands for her to keep arguing with me so I left her in there" Carmilla explains, needing to tend to the awkward silence creeping in like an unwanted pest.
