The shooting pain in Jane's head forces her eyes open, the bright morning sky blinding her tired eyes. Palming her forehead in confusion, she shifts her attention to her exposed chest. Pulling the blanket over her quickly, she turns her gaze to meet with Carmilla's gentle snores, her body just as exposed as Jane. Eyes lost in her sleeping state, Jane gazes at Carmilla's arms. Black, veiny ink mashed on top of Carmilla's scars, flowers sprouting like a forgotten wild field. Stems of petals travel up to her biceps, wrapping around as it slithers over the raised skin. As flawed and as damaged Carmilla's skin appears to be, Jane admires it like a painting of the galaxy above them. A little shift in Carmilla's leg snaps Jane out of her daze, pulling her back to the reality awaiting her. This wasn't a dream? Jane thinks to herself as she lifts her body up, realizing what must have happened the previous night, but the now harrowing hangover won't allow her to remember the details.

The sudden movement of Jane caused Carmilla to groan, slowly opening her eyes to be met with Jane staring down at her. "Pervert'' Carmilla retorts with a cocky grin, her voice husky from the deep sleep she's just been woken from.

"What happened?" Jane asks, ignoring Carmilla's childish comment. "Did we..?" Jane interrogates, her voice panicked at the idea of having done it and having no memory of it.

Carmilla lifts her arm, placing it over Jane's waist to keep her in her spot. "Relax, relax, nothing happened" Carmilla murmurs as she digs her face in the pillow, not wanting to wake up just yet.

Jane takes a loud breath of relief as she snakes herself away from Carmilla, standing up to collect her emotions. "So what happened? Because I don't know if you've noticed but we're both half naked" she remarks, probing for an answer to last night's activity.

Carmilla moans at Jane's frantic reaction, opening her eyes fully to lift herself up in a sitting position. "Okay, we kissed— no, actually. You kissed me." she clarifies. "Then you got all excited and started undressing me so I undressed you, but then you started crying out of nowhere" Carmilla chuckles at Jane's crossed arms, covering her exposed chest. "I wasn't going to fuck you when you were this wasted so I brought you to bed, took your trousers off and tucked you in" she finishes.

Jane tilts her head back gently, her mind still drunk from last night's fiasco, confused by Carmilla's explanation. "I kissed you?" Jane asks to confirm.

"Yes, you kissed me, do you seriously not remember?" Carmilla repeats, her tone slightly offended by Jane's lack of memory. "Do you at least remember what I said to you before you kissed me?" Carmilla inquired with a gentle voice, the sudden vulnerability of having to repeat her confession forming a weird sensation in her stomach.

Jane shifts, moving back to the bed to sit down, her back faced to the awaiting Carmilla. "I'm sorry for kissing you, that shouldn't have happened" Jane mutters, her head tilted to the floor as she picks at the white linen sheets. Her body flinches away at the sudden warmth of Carmilla's finger tracing her spine, the contrast between the chill on her back and the heat of her skin makes her shiver. "Don't do that" Jane whispers as she retreats out of her reach.

Carmilla lets her hand fall to the bed at the loss of Jane's closeness. "Why? Because you're married?" Carmilla remarks in a whispered scoff. "Since when did you become so loyal?" she mumbles as she shifts to her bedside table, grabbing the box of cigarettes laying at arm's reach. Jane glances at Carmilla through her peripheral in response to her comment, knowing what she means by that.

"I didn't need to be loyal to you, I didn't have a say in it therefore I couldn't choose to be loyal" Jane clarifies, resentment lingering in the depth of her words as Carmilla kept her eyes away from Jane. Deep inside, she knew Jane was right and somehow, through everything, a part of her felt guilt. Carmilla's lack of response to Jane's comment let Jane know that she understood, and that was enough for Jane, at least for a person like Carmilla.
