It was very early in the morning, before even the sun was up, when a young mouse boy named Lapitch (voiced by Cathy Weseluck) and his step brother, Tommy D Fox (voiced by Tara Strong) came down to the shoe making room, ready to start working on making some shoes while everyone else, including Mr Scowler, was still fast asleep. It wasn't long before Boney 10 was watching through a window, seeing the two kids starting their work. Boney 10: "Yes, as you can see, those two are real early birds as they have to get up before even the sun could, in hopes that they can show their master, Mr Scowler, that have what it takes to be good shoe makers like him..." said Boney 10, before the scene went back to Lapitch and Tommy, who have already started on their work on making some shoes. Lapitch: "Boy... am I getting tired... and I've only got started..." Tommy: "Me too... probably because we got up really early in the morning..." Lapitch: "Yeah... but we gotta find a way to show Master Scowler that we have what it takes to be good shoe makers like him." Tommy: "True... but... [yawning] we could use something to wake up a little... like maybe some music and dancing a little..." said Tommy, unaware that Boney 10 heard him and had a cheeky smile on his face. Boney 10: "Alright... some music and some dancing... coming right up." said Boney 10, before he used some magic from his cane that brought the shoes in the house to life and some music was being played as the shoes began to dance around, much to the young boys' surprise. Lapitch: "Whoa!, the shoes are alive!" Tommy: "Okay... this wasn't what I had in mind... but this will do..." said Tommy, before he and Lapitch began to dance around with the shoes, which began to sing some kind of shoe song. Suddenly, an adult mouse with a mustache, known as Mr Scowler (voiced by Jay Brazeau), the mouse in charge of the shoe making shop, opened the door by force and he was mad. Mr Scowler: "Be quiet!" shouted Mr Scowler, before the music stopped and the shoes went back to their original places. Tommy: "Uh oh..." Mr Scowler: "Lapitch!, Tommy!, by thunder!, what's all that racket going on down here?!" Lapitch: "Um... the shoes came to life and they started to play music, singing and dancing." Mr Scowler: "You expect me to believe that ridiculous story?!" Tommy: "But it's true... it really happened sir..." Mr Scowler: "I don't care what really happened!, I was trying to sleep and your racket woke me up!, now I have start getting ready for work much earlier than I'm supposed to!" Lapitch: "Sorry sir... but anyway... we're already working on the shoes." Mr Scowler: "Never mind those shoes, I want the shoes made for the Mayor's son be ready by this afternoon, cause if something goes wrong with them... then you'll both be sorry!" shouted Mr Scowler, before he leaves the room, slamming the door shut which made a loud sound that hurt the ears of both Tommy and Lapitch. Tommy: "Well... that went well... man... it's no wonder he's called... Mr Scowler... he scowls a lot..." Lapitch: "You can say that again..." that was when the door opened up again, and this time it was a lady mouse known as Mrs Scowler (voiced by Maxine Miller), and there was also a little blue rabbit girl named Melody (voiced by Nancy Cartwright) who happens to be the younger sister figure to both Lapitch and Tommy. Melody: "Good morning Tommy, good morning Lapitch." Tommy: "Good morning Melody... sorry if we woke ya..." Mrs Scowler: "No, it was my husband's bad temper again... I'm sorry about him... he tends to be a bit cranky in the morning." Lapitch: "Yeah... we noticed... man... no matter what we do, he's never pleased... he can be so mean..." Mrs Scowler: "Well... he wasn't always like that... there was a time he was kind and treated others nicely..." Melody: "Really?" Lapitch: "What happened?" Mrs Scowler: "Well... long ago... we had a daughter... she was our pride and joy... until one day... an evil rat stole her from us and... we feared that there's a chance that he sold her to the Demon dragons..." Tommy: "The Demon Dragons?!, the evil demons that looked like dragons with pitch forks that are known to steal souls from animals... including children?!" Mrs Scowler: "The very same... ever since then... my husband has been heartbroken and became cold... blaming the whole world for our daughter's cruel fate..." Melody: "Oh no..." Lapitch: "Gosh... I'm so sorry..." Mrs Scowler: "It's okay... I managed to move on... thanks to you three..." Tommy: "Us?" Mrs Scowler: "Yes... it was right before we found you on the streets... no place to go and no family to return to... my husband refused at first, but I managed to convince him to take you three in... to be a father figure for you..." Lapitch: "He never acted like one..." Mrs Scowler: "Well... I think it's because he believes that if he sees you as his own children, it'll be like replacing our daughter by you." Tommy: "Replaced?, how?, we didn't do anything wrong." Mrs Scowler: "I know... it's not your fault, he's just not the most happy mouse in the world nowadays... but he means well..." Melody: "I hope you're right... I don't know how much more my big brothers and I could take much more of the way he treats us..." Mrs Scowler: "I'm sure it'll get better later, now come along Melody, we got breakfast to make for the boys." Melody: "Oh right." said Melody, before she and Mrs Scowler went to the kitchen and start working on making breakfast for everyone.
