Chapter 6 - The Hatchling

Jay turns to look at the white dragon, who is standing beside him, then he looks at Kai and Cole who are standing at his other side. Kai with a scowl on his face that has been on his face ever since Cole got that slash on his side. Cole looks back at the blue dragon and gently nudges him with his thick tail, then motions to look forward.

Jay looks forward as he watches as the old Nightwing steps out of the hatching room and scowls at each of the dragonets then he turns to looks behind him where a small green dragon stands.

Jay looks at each of his friends, Kai's scowl has gone as he looks down at the green dragon and he tilts his head. Cole wraps his tail around Kai's to keep the dragon grounded as he also studies the baby dragon. Jay turns to look at Zane, who looks at the old Nightwing instead of the baby.

The Nightwing looks at each of the dragons then pushes the baby towards the group. "You will learn to watch this dragon" The old dragon hisses out as his tail flicks his tails behind him. Cole looks up at Kai and Jay then steps forward to the baby and takes him into his arms, bringing it back to the others. "This is the dragon that you will protect" Kai's wing spreads out and he covers both the Mudwing and the strange dragonet.

Wu nods then turns to leave as each of the dragons look at each other, Jay looks down at the baby dragon in the Mudwing's arms. "What tribe is it from?" Jay asks ignoring the biting cold that is coming from the Icewing. Cole smiles at Jay as he gently nudges the baby towards them. "From what I can remember from the scrolls, he's a Rainwing" Cole hums out then looks up at Kai, who tilts his head confused. "How can you tell?" Jay asks as Kai nods confused.

Cole huffs a small bit as he looks down at the baby dragon and he smiles as he watches as the baby hops towards his tail which he moves around to distract the baby. "Rainwings have rounded scales and the ending of their tail curls around" Cole hums then raises his head in pride.

Zane steps forward and looks down at the baby then huffs "I guess Cole is right" He rumbles out and looks at the brown dragon, who shrinks under his gaze. "We need to name the baby" Jay steps forward as he spreads his wings ready to prepare to protect the baby.

Zane looks at each of the dragons then huffs "Wu said we should name him, Lloyd" The white dragon huffs out and flicks his tail as he uses it to hide his deadly claws and the baby still 'hunts' Cole's tail. "Lloyd?" Jay asks as he looks at the white dragon. "As in the legendary Nightwing?" Kai tilts his head then looks at the baby. "A lazy Rainwing, named after a legendary dragon?" Kai growls then Cole nudges him with a small scowl.

Cole hums "I think it's nice" Cole looks down at the baby and he coos to the baby, who squeaks back at the Mudwing as he moves down to lay down and let the baby hop around him as he spreads his wings out.

Cole looks up at each of them and Kai looks down at the brown dragon as he wraps his tail around him. "I guess, Lloyd's his name" Kai hums as he watches the Mudwing and the Rainwing interact with each other. "Let's see what we can find on babies" Jay chimes in as he helps the Mudwing up as the Icewing walks away from the group.

"That's the best idea, you have had" Kai chuckles as they watch Cole tries to encourage Lloyd into the Study room, which takes a while as the baby runs around. Cole finally gets the baby in with Kai's help as Jay cackles at them.

Jay smiles as he grabs a scroll and hands another to Kai. "You already know a lot about the scrolls Cole, could you watch the baby?" Jay asks and Cole lets out a huff "I guess I'll do it" He mumbles then lays down on his usual stop and the baby rushes over to lay between his side and his tail. As the others sit down around them with the scrolls to read them.
